December 2013              Helping Neighbors in Need in Sandy Springs and Dunwoody since 1987.
More than 1000 Kids Adopted!
More Children in Need of Gifts
Generous donors have so far adopted more than 1,000 local children for holiday gifts through CAC! We are close to having all of the registered families adopted! Please consider adopting a family for holiday gifts and makes kids wishes come true. View families and children's wish lists and adopt online. Bring new and unwrapped gifts to CAC by Tuesday, December 17.
Visit CAC's Adopt-a-Family at www.ourcac.org.
Notes of Thanks
Many families receiving holiday gifts have left notes of thanks to their anonymous CAC donors. Here are a few...

Thank you so much for your kindness. This has been a difficult year for us. God Bless you for your gifts.

My family would like to extend our greatest thanks and appreciation for your Christmas miracle. Thank you so much for bringing Christmas to our family in our time of need.
A happy boy receiving a bike!

Thank you so much. Words can't express how grateful my family is for you this year.

Thank you so much for the gifts you gave my son. Because of you his Christmas will be that much brighter. God Bless you for your caring spirit.

Thank you very much for bringing joy and happiness to my home this Christmas.

Thank you for the holiday gifts. I appreciate you all so much. You don't realize how much you have helped my family during this difficult time for us. CAC has changed my life and shows that you really do care about families in need in the community. Thank you again and God Bless.
 Congregations Adopt Hundreds
Through "angel trees" members of CAC supporting congregations have adopted hundreds of children for holiday gifts. Holy Innocents Episcopal Church, Dunwoody United Methodist, North Atlanta Church of Christ and Rivercliff Lutheran have each adopted at least 100 children! Adopt-a-Family donors also include many more congregations, businesses, clubs, families and individuals. Also many thanks to all of the volunteers working behind the scenes! Thank you for making children's holiday wishes come true!
 Holiday Food Donations
Volunteers from the US Army and UPS helped to distribute hundreds of holiday food boxes.
With your support CAC works to prevent hunger in our community. Thank you to everyone who has donated food, the pantry is overflowing this holiday season!  The CAC Food Pantry is receiving an average of 1380 visits a month in 2013. Special thanks to the Shumard Family Foundation and their volunteers for providing and packing 500 holiday food boxes and to the Kurzweil family for the turkey drive that provided 200 turkeys to families in need!
 Become a VITA Volunteer
tax form CAC is a proud to be a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site. The VITA program is a national initiative of the IRS that offers free tax preparation help to low- to moderate-income earners. Volunteers are needed to prepare taxes and serve as intake/screeners, training is provided, must complete online training and certification by January 31. VITA hours at CAC begin in February, evenings and Saturday mornings. Contact Debbie at [email protected]. Find more info on the CAC website.
A Home for the Holidays
So many donors have made this holiday season a happier time for local families in need, giving food and gifts for children. CAC holiday programs give this extra bit of support to families who have come to CAC during the last year seeking assistance. These families have experienced a crisis situation such as job loss, illness or divorce that have made it difficult for them to pay daily living expenses. CAC provides emergency financial assistance to these families in need to help prevent homelessness, and help struggling families achieve self-sufficiency.
 -  $100 can help pay a utility bill.
 -  $250 can help pay rent.
This holiday season, won't you consider making a donation to CAC to help the next family that comes to CAC seeking help with rent or utilities?
