November 2013              Helping Neighbors in Need in Sandy Springs and Dunwoody since 1987.
Make a Child's Wishes Come True!
You can make a child or children's wishes come true this holiday season by "adopting" kids for holiday gifts. CAC's Adopt-a-Family program enables donors to give gifts to local children of families in need. Families enrolled in the program have received assistance from CAC during the past year. Your donation of gifts can help a family that has been struggling have a happier holiday season.

CAC is seeking enough donors to provide gifts for 1,200 children this holiday season. View the list of families for adoption on the CAC website and "adopt" online! Bring your new and unwrapped gifts to CAC by the date indicated on your confirmation email.

A Vintage Affair to Remember!

Howard and Janet Clark had the winning bid for the Costa Rica trip!
Thank you everyone who made the Vintage Affair a resounding success!  With your support the largest annual benefit for CAC raised $118,000 to help prevent homelessness and hunger in our community. More than 340 guests took part a lovely evening on Oct. 5 hosted by Holy Innocents. Guests enjoyed foods from 15 of the best local restaurants, wine tastings from fine wineries, live music and exciting live and silent auctions with original art, sports outings and trips to private vacation homes around the world!

What Does a Bag of Groceries Mean to You?
Mary is married, with 2 boys and a college education. Her family fell on hard times when her husband had to leave the family due to immigration issues and then Mary lost her job. After a series of moves with 2 young children, and various temporary jobs, Mary finally found stable employment and daycare assistance. Still struggling to pay either rent and utilities or buy food, Mary decided to "swallow her pride" and visit CAC. She was relieved to meet caring people who helped her at the center. She was thankful for the food and clothing assistance she received from CAC that helped her meet basic living needs for her family. Now she has better employment and her husband has returned to the family. Donations to CAC enabled this family to survive during their most difficult times.
 Temple Sinai a Significant Supporter
One of CAC's 30 member congregations, Temple Sinai, gives significant support to the food pantry. In addition to their Second Helpings program that provides fresh food to the pantry daily, their High Holy Days food drive in September was the largest food drive ever for CAC yielding 14,000 pounds of food. More recently, 20 B'nei Mitzvah students and 3 parents participate in a service project in which they prepared 74 chicken and rice casseroles for the pantry to distribute. And another Temple Sinai member and her family are holding a fundraising drive to donate 200 turkeys for CAC clients this month for Thanksgiving! Everyone is invited to contribute to the turkey fundraiser! Donate online at CAC.
