1,000 Kids Adopted for Holiday Gifts!
Donors near and far adopted 1,000 local children for holiday gifts through CAC's "Adopt-a-Family" program! For the past few weeks the new and wrapped gifts have been pouring into the center from donors who gave children in need the clothes and toys they asked for on their wish lists. What more can we say but THANK YOU for bringing joy to 1,000 children who would have gone without gifts this holiday season. |
Donors Give Hundreds Holiday Food
Thanks to generous donations more than 500 local families received a holiday food box and a grocery store gift card this holiday season from CAC. All of the food and gift cards were donated to CAC by individuals, groups and businesses. The Shumard family of Dunwoody pulled together volunteers to pack 500 holiday food boxes in one evening. CAC's annual holiday programs are 100 percent donor funded and go to families who qualified for emergency assistance from CAC during the year.

Helping Families Stay Home for the Holidays

Richard and Sara have had a difficult past 2 years. Sara, who has a chronic illness, spent 4 months in the hospital while pregnant, they lost their baby girl. Richard then lost his job, and this year Sara has been in and out of the hospital upon which she lost her job. They have 2 young children and found themselves both unemployed and unable to pay the rent. Their only income is a small disability benefit. Then Richard found CAC. We helped him with rent so they could stay in their home, gave him food for his family, and enrolled the children in our Adopt-a-Family program for holiday gifts. He recently moved out of state to take a low paying job near a relative. He's still looking for a job in welding or fork lift driving. Sara is looking for a data entry or reception position. They hope to be reunited soon.
Your generous donations allow CAC to help struggling families in our community like this one stay afloat and remain in their homes through difficult times.

To All of Our Friends
I'd like to take a moment to thank each and everyone of you who have supported CAC in some way this year. Whether through donations or volunteer time, your contribution has helped local families in need.
We celebrated together this year our 25th year of service in the community. But during this year we have also seen an increase in requests for assistance as working families still struggle to find jobs.
While we work to assist as many neighbors as possible, a tight budget year forces us to turn families away. If you give to your favorite charities during the holidays or throughout the year we hope you will include CAC.
We look forward to seeing you again next year at the Center working with us to help our neighbors in need.
Happy Holidays,
Tamara Carrera |
