The 2012 Vintage Affair

The Silver Celebration Vintage Affair benefit on September 29 raised $112,000 for CAC! More than 325 guests attended the 10th annual fundraiser. In attendance from the community were CAC supporters, donors and volunteers along with representatives from sponsoring businesses and government officials. Because all of the food, beverages and auction items were donated, almost every dollar raised at Vintage Affair goes to helping neighbors in need. Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered and attended! Vintage Affair Photo Gallery! |
Turning to CAC
Messages like the ones below are sent to CAC daily. We offer quick responses and compassionate assistance.
"Hi, I don't have a phone and I need clothes really bad, I only have 1 outfit, I am here in college away from home and there is nothing my family can do to help me."
CAC responded to the student immediately. Just a few days later he walked a long way to CAC for help. CAC gave him much needed clothing and food. Another client gave him a ride home.
***************** "I do not even have bus fare to get there (CAC)... as soon as I get my disability check I will be there for food." ***************** "Thank you all for everything. If it were not for CAC, my grandson would not have a decent thing to wear to school, and that breaks my heart." |
Temple Sinai & UPS Join Forces!

Temple Sinai and UPS came together in September to fight hunger locally. A large food drive by Temple Sinai is an annual event, centering around the Jewish holiday, Yom Kippur. This was one of their largest drives yet, giving a total of 585 bags of food. The donation to the CAC Food Pantry will provide 266 local families with two to three bags of non-perishable foods this month. UPS provided a truck, driver and volunteers for a total of 18 people, to load, unload and shelve two trips of food donations from two holiday services at the Temple.

Four classes of Davis Academy 3rd graders recently came to CAC for a volunteer day and lesson on how CAC helps neighbors in need. They brought toiletries and packed them into individual bags and then filled the toiletry bins in the food pantry. Davis Academy students come to CAC every year to donate and volunteer. Other recent student groups include Holy Innocents 3rd grade, Wesleyen 8th grade and Riverwood High Beta Club. We love our student supporters! |
