Access Health CT
Starting October 2013, Connecticut residents and business owners will have access to new health insurance options. Access Health CT is the new online marketplace that offers individuals, families and small employers a range of qualified, approved health insurance plans. Under national health care reform, states must have a health insurance exchange, like Access Health CT, in place by January 1, 2014. It is not too early to begin preparing for enrollment. Visit www.AccessHealthCT.com to learn more about the enrollment process and whether you qualify for premium discounts. The mission of Access Health CT is to increase the number of Connecticut residents who are insured, lower their costs, promote health and eliminate health disparities. |
Temporary Reductions in Emergency Unemployment Benefits |
The federal budget cuts generally known as "sequestration" will have an impact on Connecticut residents who receive Emergency Unemployment benefits. Beginning with payments received the week of June 24, federally-funded unemployment insurance benefits will be reduced by 19.2% per week through September 30, 2013. The reduction is due to the federal Budget Control Act of 2011 which requires across-the-board budget cuts to many federal programs. Under current law, a reduction in benefits will continue after October 1, 2013, unless new legislation is enacted. Emergency Unemployment Compensation is currently scheduled to expire December 31, 2013. Click here for information from the Connecticut Department of Labor. |
