Earned Income Tax Credits

The Federal Earned Income Tax Credit has long been regarded as one of the most effective poverty-reduction programs in the United States. It provides tax refunds for low- and middle-income working families allowing those families to reduce debt, save for the future or invest in a home or education. In addition, Connecticut has a state EITC that is equal to 30% of the federal tax credit. For more information about EITC and to find free tax preparation assistance, dial 2-1-1 or click here.

Flu is "Widespread"
in Connecticut

Nationwide, we are in the midst of one of the worst flu seasons in several years. The Connecticut Department of Public Health has classified flu activity in the state as "widespread" with over 2,460 cases identified and over 460 hospitalizations in the past few weeks. Health officials say vaccination is the most effective way to protect yourself and others from the flu and it is not too late to get a flu shot. Click here to find a flu shot location near you. For more information on this year's flu, visit the 2-1-1 eLibrary, the Department of Public Health or the Centers for Disease Control.
