Greetings Open Door Art Studio Fans!
Our first exhibition of the year, This Inspired That, was record-breaking! Record attendance and record sales were the perfect ways to start our exhibition season!

FEATURED ARTIST
| | Kathy Baldwin
 Kathy Baldwin is one of Open Door's resident comedians, and her infectious humor inspires lots of giggles at the studio. Her artistic style is similar to her personality, playful and upbeat. She prefers traditional folk art imagery such as houses, flowers, and landscapes. Her artistic signature lies in the way she divides up an image into geometric and colorful shapes. One of her artistic aspirations is to build an actual  playhouse and then to paint it. Someday, she would also like to be in a major art show and to sell lots of paintings. This would be beneficial to Kathy as she loves to go on trips, and some extra travel money could support her explorations. Her pieces are usually sold soon after they are finished, so the early bird gets the worm!

Open Door artists will share their delightful depictions of the great outdoors in Flora & Fauna. Blooming flowers and creative critters are showcased in this exhibit, which will leave viewers feeling more in tune with their natural surroundings.

SHARON DORSEY IN PATTERNS
| | MAW Exhibiting at Tacocat in Grandview
 Open Door's Sharon Dorsey is an active member of Mother Artists at Work (MAW) and we are excited to announce their upcoming exhibition, Patterns. Evident in nature, discernible in design, behavior, and movement, patterns bring order to chaos and prediction to mystery. Interpreting how patterns affect, measure and mark our lives is the central theme of Patterns.

VOLUNTEER SHOUT OUT
| | Thank You, Brooke Boster!
 As a student at The Arts and College Preparatory Academy (ACPA), Brooke Boster was required to spend one day a week at a site in the community during her junior and senior year to gain job experience. Thankfully, she chose Open Door both years, even going the extra mile and coming in during her summer break. Everyone at the studio has thoroughly enjoyed Brooke's visits, whether it was to see what artistically constructed outfit or wild hair style she donned for the day, to have assisted in gathering the necessary supplies to create their artwork, or to simply have lingered and listened to stories about their lives.
Brooke plans to take a year off after high school to reflect on all she's learned and to figure out what the big picture means for her. We'll miss you Brooke! Good luck on your journey!
