Greetings Open Door Art Studio Fans!
May is here and 2013 is truly in full swing! Did you come to the opening of This Inspired That? If you did, then you must know how lucky we feel to be part of Columbus! The crowd filled Open Door and was full of artists, admirers and advocates! We are full of momentum from that event and cannot wait for May and June and July, oh my! May:

| FEATURED ARTIST | | Shayna Rowe
 Shayna Rowe is the epitome of fun-loving. This playful spirit comes through in her artwork whether it is a painting of a past vacation or a mixed media creation of house pets. Her style is colorful with bold, confident lines. In addition to art, Shayna already has a busy schedule of hobbies. She absolutely loves to bowl, go camping and compete in the Special Olympics. One of the things she loves about art is that it  is a quiet activity and gives her time to reflect during her busy week. Shayna is very close with her family and they are big fans of her art. Shayna is featured in the exhibit This Inspired That, currently on view at Open Door's Gallery. You can see her work featured below. Her work Mama, pictured to the left, will be a part of Vision Unveiled at the Urban Arts Space. Details regarding that exhibit are listed below as well. Congratulations Shayna!

A Million Thanks to Our Incredible Supporters!
This Inspired That is a collaborative exhibit featuring artists from Open Door Art Studio and Creative Arts of Women (CAW). For this exhibit each CAW artist selected a piece of art made by an artist from Open Door that inspired them and used that spark to create a companion piece. Both works are displayed side-by-side in this engaging and exciting exhibit. It will be on display in the Open Door gallery through May 31st!

The opening reception took place on April 6th and it was our biggest opening yet! What a way to kick off our 2013 exhibitions! Open Door is thrilled to take part in Vision Unveiled at the Urban Arts Space. This gorgeous gallery and contemporary art space will be brimming with new work from two vibrant art studios.

WALLACE PECK AT LINDSAY GALLERY
| | Solo Exhibition Introduces Open Door Artist to the Short North!
We are proud to announce that Open Door's Wallace Peck will be having a solo exhibition at Lindsay Gallery for the month of June. Lindsay Gallery is central Ohio's premier gallery specializing in self-taught, folk, and outsider art since 1999.
For Wallace to be selected to exhibit there is truly an honor. Please join Wallace at the opening reception on Friday, May 31st! The exhibit will remain on display through June.

about Wallace's art:
The eyes of Peck's figures stare out from a field of washy color, engaging directly with the viewer. The slight tilt of an eyebrow or mouth can change the entire mood of a work. When scanning Peck's body of work, similarities emerge. His vocabulary of elongated triangular noses and striped bodies repeats, but each arrangement is unique. Much like words can be recombined to create unlimited meanings, Peck's figures are structured with varied lines and evocative color combinations. The collection to be displayed at Lindsay Gallery is the most complex and innovative to date.
