Greetings Open Door Art Studio Fans!

It is often said that March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. Well, let Open Door be the first to say RAWWRRR! We are ready for spring. Bring it on Mother Nature! We are so excited to see everyone after the winter hibernation. The 2013 exhibitions are going to be stellar and we are getting off on the right foot with the second annual This Inspired That exhibition. April 6th will be here before you know it!

FEATURED ARTIST

Madge George

Madge George, a veteran in the Columbus arts scene, has been expressing herself through abstracted and colorful works of art for over ten years. Her signature organic lines are featured in all her drawings and paintings and her subject matter varies depending on her mood. Madge finds joy in making art and says it helps her to "take her mind off things." Madge is inspired by music and some of her favorite musicians include Jimi Hendrix, Adele and Usher. Even when not at the studio she seeks out art. She enjoys the Gallery Hop in Columbus and seeks out art wherever she travels. Madge studies criminal

justice and looks forward to working in that field some day. She has her sights on the state of Washington. The art scene in Columbus would certainly miss her!

Missed coming to openings?

We've missed you too!

Save the date! April 6th!!!

This Inspired That will be a collaborative exhibit featuring artists from Open Door Art Studio and Creative Arts of Women (CAW). For this exhibit each CAW artist selected a piece of art made by an artist from Open Door that inspired them and used that spark to create a companion piece. Both works will be displayed side-by-side in this engaging and exciting exhibit.

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT

Brooke Boster

Open Door is lucky to have dedicated volunteers as part of our community. Brooke Boster has been with Open Door since the fall of 2012 and she has become a part of the Open Door family. Her favorite thing about volunteering is "the people" and our artists look forward to seeing her every week!

Brooke is currently a junior at an art college prep high school and plans to further her arts education at Columbus College of Art and Design (CCAD) after graduation. Although she isn't sure what her major will be, she is positive that art will always play a big part in her life. She describes her artwork as both "cute and creepy" and as a volunteer she will have her work in a few of the upcoming exhibits at Open Door. We can't wait to see what this self-described "small, but mighty" artist makes!
