New Law Gives Preference in Hiring and Promotion Decisions to Veterans |
The Massachusetts Legislature has adopted Chapter 62 of the Acts of 2014, which allows private employers to give preference in hiring and promotion decisions to veterans, spouses of honorably discharged veterans who are 100 percent disabled as a result of enemy action or a service-connected accident, and surviving spouses of veterans. The Act permits that preference notwithstanding the provisions of Chapter 151B, the Massachusetts anti-discrimination law.
