Celebrate the 40th MCM in patriotic style by attending the MCM Celebration Concert on Fri., Oct. 23 at 3 p.m. in the Ronald Reagan Building's Woodrow Wilson Plaza (1300 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20004). Featuring the trio of United We Sing, the free concert serves to kick off a festive anniversary celebration weekend.

 

  • To MCM by Shuttle-On MCM Day, free parking is available in Crystal City at the corner of 23rd Street and Crystal Drive.  Take the pre-start shuttles from Crystal City to Runners Village in the Pentagon North parking lot beginning at 5:30 a.m.  After the MCM, shuttles depart from the corner of Oak Street and Wilson Boulevard in the Finish Festival for Crystal City.  There is no designated parking or shuttle service for the MCM10K.

Drop old running shoes in the collection bin at the MCM Health & Fitness Expo. These shoes will avoid landfills and become part of a process that will fight poverty, hunger and global warming.  Also, Toys for Tots will begin their holiday season campaign at the Expo, MCM Kids Run and Finish Festival. Runners are invited to bring new toys to support this United State Marine Corps Reserve initiative.  

Follow the MCM on Twitter for a chance to win one of the 40 super-sized extra special goodie bags to be given away during MCM Weekend.  The first of 40 MCM SuperSize Goodie Bags will be awarded at the Health & Fitness Expo opening ceremonies on Fri., Oct. 23 at 8:30 a.m.  The remaining bags will be randomly distributed during MCM Weekend by notifying runners over Twitter where and when the next bag will be awarded.  Not all bags contain all prizes.  


Official start time is 7:55 a.m. in Arlington for the MCM and on the National Mall for the MCM10K.  Wheelchairs and hand cycles begin at 7:45 a.m.  It is suggested all runners arrive two hours prior to the start of the MCM.  Ceremonies including a jump into the MCM start, skydive and flyover begin at 7:20 a.m. and conclude with the howitzer blast at 7:55 a.m.  

Runners are required to use the clear plastic drawstring bag issued at Packet Pick-up for the event-day bag check. Backpacks, suitcases or any other type of bag will not be accepted at UPS Drop-off and may not be left unattended. All items are subject to search at both the MCM and MCM10K starts. 

Comcast SportsNet hosts 90 minutes of live TV coverage 
from the MCM start beginning at 7:00 a.m.  Throughout the course, MarathonFoto photographers will take images of every runner in multiple locations that will be available for purchase digitally or in various print sizes and products.  Check the Comcast SportsNet website on the evening of the MCM for video footage of every runner crossing the finish line.   

Once across the finish line at the Marine Corps War Memorial, a Marine will award the awesome 40th MCM finisher medal.  MarathonFoto photographers will take victory shots of runners with their newly earned hardware in front of the Marine Corps War Memorial.  The hospitality zone includes nourishment box, Turbana bananas, Wegmans bottled water, Gatorade, Dole fruit bowls and the MCM recovery jacket.  Please, remember to recycle in the available receptacles and compost the banana peels.  Runners then enter the Finish Festival in Rosslyn.  The Festival includes live music, giveaways, food samples, massage, family link-up, Mic Ultra Beer Garden (redeem the coupon on the bottom of the bib for a celebratory beer) and UPS Baggage Pick-up.  Visit the MCM Brooks Store, Dunkin Donuts, Hyundai and the National Watermelon Promotion Board.  The MCM Info Tent is located on Fort Myer Drive.  


The Marine Corps Historic Half to be held on May 15, 2016 in Fredericksburg, VA will open registration on Wed., Oct. 21. The Historic Half will reward motivated runners who register early with the lowest fee of $70.  As more runners sign up and registration plateaus are reached, the fee increases. The Historic Half will also retire the 5K and 10K events that had been hosted on the same day as the Half in previous years, to debut the Semper 5ive.  This new five mile run that evokes the Marine Corps motto "Semper Fi" also opens on October 21.

The fastest way into the 41st MCM is to run and finish the Marine Corps 17.75K in April 2016. All finishers receive a guaranteed entry into the 41st MCM.  Registration for this event opens on February 17... The MCM Kids Run presented by Virginia529 hosts young runners ages 5-12 for a one-mile, just-for-fun run. Registration is still open and includes a participant shirt, medal, snacks at the finish provided by Sodexo and more...
