For runners, there's nothing quite like the motivation of having support from enthusiastic Marines at the start, finish and all points along the course. Relive the energy so many thrived on at the 39th MCM by registering for and running the Marine Corps Historic Half on May 17, 2015 in Fredericksburg, VA. With a start and finish bathed in stars and stripes and a course that tours colonial sites including the quaint downtown, the Historic Half offers a scenic and historic running experience that includes the ominous, seemingly never ending Hospital Hill. Historic Half Weekend features 5K, 10K and 13.1 mile distances. The lowest registration fee for the Historic Half is available now. Sign up for the Historic 10K or Semper Fred 5K beginning this February.
Any runner who has finished the MCM five or more times (over any years) is eligible for membership in the highly coveted MCM Runners Club. Such on-going participation in "The People's Marathon" earns members guaranteed access in all future MCMs, plus special patches for each five-year milestone. Now is the time to apply for membership. Any applications received after February 28, 2015 will not be eligible for dedicated access to registration for the 40th MCM. The most well-known members of this club are the Groundpounders. This exclusive group comprised of just four runners, who had participated in every MCM since the inaugural running in 1976 was reduced by two after the 39th MCM. Mel Williams and Matt Jaffe were not able to complete their 39th consecutive MCM. Congratulations to Will Brown, 73, (6:45:51) and Al Richmond, 75, (5:43:15), who continue their impressive streaks.
