e-Cards are First Step to Healthy Lifestyle Expo Later this week, all Historic Half Weekend participants will receive via email the official e-Confirmation Card to facilitate Packet Pick-up check in at the Healthy Lifestyle Expo presented by Hyundai Hope On Wheels on May 17-18 at the Fredericksburg Expo and Conference Center. All runners are required to show the e-Card on their smartphone screen or present a printed version at Packet Pick-up to receive the official bib with timing device, competitor shirt and event program. If unable to attend the Expo, runners may have their materials picked up by another runner or friend, but must follow directions for Proxy Pick-up on the bottom of the e-Card. The Healthy Lifestyle Expo showcases health, fitness, food, exercise and more featuring vendors like Mary Washington Healthcare, GEICO, MarathonFoto, AT&T and the Historic Half Store. The free, open-to-all Expo will be held Friday, May 17 from 4:00 -8:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 18 from 10:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. Awesome prizes will be awarded for those runners among the first in line at the Expo's opening ceremony on May 17 at 3:30 p.m.

Track Runners through Social Media Messaging
Runners can automatically have split times posted on their personal Facebook timeline and/or Twitter feed. Relatives, close friends, casual acquaintances, long-lost associates and high school classmates will all be able to follow a runner's progress along the Historic Half course in real time. In addition to tracking runner's updates over social media, spectators can register to receive split time updates delivered via email or mobile phone using SMS text messaging. Getting Around Half Weekend
Free shuttle service will be offered from the Healthy Lifestyle Expo to downtown Fredericksburg throughout the day on Saturday, May 18. On race day, free shuttles to and from the Historic Half start/finish area will be available for runners and spectators via the commuter lot located on US 17 North, toward Warrenton. The commuter lot is located just off I-95 at Exit 133. The race-day shuttle will operate from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. There will be no parking at the Expo and Conference Center start/finish area. Shuttles will run from Walmart, adjacent to the start/finish area to the Semper Fred 5K and Historic 10K start lines. An additional race-day shuttle will be available to transport spectators from Central Park to downtown Fredericksburg on mile seven of the Marine Corps Historic Half course. Fredericksburg Area Museum & Cultural Center Welcomes Runners The Fredericksburg Area Museum & Cultural Center is offering all Historic Half runners a one-year museum membership at half price. Membership provides a full year of free admission to the museum; access to members-only events and programs; first to know about upcoming events and exhibitions through our bi-monthly e-blasts and quarterly newsletter; discounts to The Museum Store and other local businesses. FAMCC presents more than 100 programs annually to the community and boasts eight permanent exhibitions and six to eight temporary exhibitions each year. FAMCC President and CEO Ellen Killough encourages runners and families to visit the Museum that weekend and become a member.

Historic Half Start Entertainment
Lots of special extras are in place to celebrate the start of the Marine Corps Historic Half. The Fredericksburg Fifes and Drums will usher in the opening ceremonies that include a flyover of vintage aircraft from "The Flying Circus" of Bealeton, VA, an appearance by the Historic Half town crier, the national anthem performed by Julie Baird, who beginning in May, will star as Elle Woods in Riverside Dinner Theater's Legally Blonde, plus the firing of a Marine Corps howitzer.

VA Runner
Located just across the street from the start and finish of the Historic Half, VA Runner, the Fredericksburg-area running specialty store, has established the Distinguished Participation Award. Runners who complete one of the three Marine Corps Historic Half Weekend events, as well as Run Amuck (June), Crossroads 4-Miler (September) and Turkey Trot 10K (November) will be presented a special participation medal for a year-long commitment to running. In addition to receiving the limited edition medal, award winners who wear the medal into the VA Runner store will receive a special one-time 30 percent discount off all non-sale items.

After visiting Packet Pick-up, runners will be routed through the Historic Half Store at the Healthy Lifestyle Expo. Select Physical Therapy to Aid Recovery at Finish
Select Physical Therapy will be on site at the Finish Festival to provide post-race stretching, BioFreeze samples, and talk to runners and their families about recovery techniques. The experienced physical therapists and athletic trainers are available for on-going support at more than 20 outpatient clinics from all over Central and Northern Virginia.
