Independence National Historical Park - Shutdown

As most of you are aware, Independence National Historical Park has been closed due to a shutdown.  It was not the choice of the park or the Department of the Interior to close our park or any other National Park.  They were mandated by the government and yes, we wish that was not the case but we must make the best of it.

Until the day we can re-open our park and welcome our visitors, here are a few things you can do:

  1. You can follow the Friends on Facebook or Twitter.  That is where we will post the latest updates and news as we hear it.
  2. You can tell your Congressional Representative what INHP means to you and urge them to come to a decision.
  3. You can patron our partners and friends who are not affected by the shutdown.   Independence Visitor Center in partnership with Historic Philadelphia, Inc. has setup a temporary visitor center at the Historic Philadelphia, Inc. location at 6th and Chestnut Streets.  They are there to provide information about the attractions still available during the shutdown.   For more information, Click Here
  4. You can thank a NPS Park employee - If you have been in the vicinity of the park since this shutdown, you may have noticed that there are still uniformed personnel working.  The individuals you see are essential to the protection and preservation of our park.  They are working everyday... without pay to make sure our park is ready to go the day we open back up.  Take a moment to show your appreciation for them and the work they do for Independence National Historical Park.
