Pops on Independence

Calling all volunteers! If you love being down on Independence Mall for the Peter Nero and the Philly Pops Concert of July 3rd, enjoy handing out American Flags to visitors and sharing patriotic good will, then come volunteer with us. We are looking for people to help us with the July 3rd Pops on Independence Concert. If you are interested, send us an email at attn@friendsofindependence.org for more information.

Young Friends Event
The Young Friends of Independence are Celebrating Spring on Wednesday, May 22nd with a Garden Party in the Magnolia Garden There will be refreshments, networking, and good times all rolled up in a touch of history. This is an event you do not want to miss so make sure to Register There will be prizes! Since no Garden Party is complete without a hat, we are hosting a hat contest for all attendees (yes, men that includes you!) Show us your best hat and we will show you a great prize!

Join a 5K run like no other! Race along the scenic Benjamin Franklin Bridge and through beautiful Independence Mall

Mother's Day Programs - May 11th and 12th

11:00 - Lucretia Mott's Enduring Legacy - Liberty Bell Center - Come and hear the story of this courageous mother, Lucretia Mott, a most prominent and persistent advocate of the anti-slavery movement and leader and crusader of the women's rights movement. (10 min)

3:00 - Founding Mother's - Portrait Gallery in the Second Bank of the U.S. - Did you know that Mother's Day was founded by Anna Jarvis of Philadelphia? Join a park ranger for a tour of the Portrait Gallery and hear the stories about the "Founding Mothers" who inspire us with their courage and determination. (30 min)

Memorial Day Weekend May 25-26

3:00 - Heroism and Sacrifice During the American Revolution - Portrait Gallery in the Second Bank of the U.S. - Join a park ranger to learn more about the struggles and sacrifices made by members of the military during the American Revolution. (30 min)
