Founding Father's

5K Run & Family Friendly Walk

Supporting Our National Park

One Stride at a Time

ff5K
Like our Founding Fathers before us, now is the time to test your strength and endurance to support and preserve all that is good about our great nation.

Join the Friends of Independence National Historical Park for a 5K run like no other. On Saturday, June 8, 2013 the Friends of Independence will be hosting the Founding Father's 5K Run and Family Friendly Walk: Supporting Our National Park One Stride at a Time. This event will be like no other since runners will not be running through the city, but over the Delaware River. Yes the 5K course is the six degree incline of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge and as a participant, the runner, like General George Washington, will be crossing the Delaware River.

And you are encouraged to dress  like him too!  Prizes will be given out to best individual and group costumes for people who most embody the Spirit of 1776

This event is open to all participants. The 5K run is for runners who can run 3.1 miles in an hour and a half. The Family Friendly Walk is for participants who just want to walk the course or to see the city from a different point of view and cheer on the runners .

After the run and walk, there will be activities and fun events happening on the front lawn of the National Constitution Center.  Proceeds from this event will go to the beautification of Independence Mall.

Registration for this event will open soon!  Please save the date and watch for announcements on this event in upcoming emails!
