Bishop White Dining Room

Back for a second time, the Friends of Independence is proud to present Artifact Night, a program specifically for Friends Members to showcase Independence National Historical Park's permanent collections.

Over our 40 year history of supporting the Best Park in History! we have donated or purchased over 1,000 artifacts to the collections.  During our Artifact Night, Friends member's are given the chance to see some of these amazing pieces up close.

This year, our Park Museum Curator, Karie Diethorn will take us on a tour of the Bishop White House and we will look at the important pieces the Friends have given over the years to help with the telling of the Bishop White story.

Moving of the Bicentennial Bell

Yesterday, January 31, 2013 the Bicentennial Bell given to America by Queen Elizabeth II on behalf of Great Britain's people in 1976 was moved from the Bell Tower outside the Old Visitor Center.

The Bell was crated and will be put into storage from now until a decision can be made as to where to display it on park grounds.  The Bell was moved to make way for the building of the new American Revolution Center museum.

If you were not there for the moving of the Bell, there were some great photographs taken which we share below or you can visit our friends at Newswork.com to see it from their point of view.
