How the Founders Did It!

 

As the election approaches, hear one of America's most respected historians, Gordon Wood, speak on "Elections, How the Founders Did it."

 

Gordon Wood is a Professor of History Emeritus at Brown University and author of many books including Pulitzer Prize winning The Radicalism of the American Revolution as well as his most recent work, The Idea of America: Reflections on the Birth of the United States.

Speaker Series: Ales of the Revolution

 

In 2003, Yards Brewing Company partnered with the City Tavern to create Ales of the Revolution, a line of historic beer recreations based on the original recipes of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Ben Franklin.

 

For our November Speaker Series, we will have a tasting of these beers, hear about how they're made and take a private tour of the brewery.

Speaker Series - December 
The Use of Clothing in 17th Century England by Hannah Howard

 

 

 

 

Ms. Howard is the residential costume historian for Pennsbury Manor which is a recreation of William Penn's 17th century estate sitting on 43 picturesque acres along the Delaware River. Ms. Howard will be discussing 17th century clothing, in both its design and its ability to reflect the wearer's status in society.
