It's only a few short days until you will be arriving in College Park, Md., at the Eppley Recreation Center Natatorium for the start of the 2014 Marriott USMS Summer National Championship. This is the last email you will receive prior to your arrival, so we wish you safe travels and we look forward to seeing you soon.

WHERE TO FIND INFORMATION

The USMS website is the location for all official information regarding the 2014 Marriott USMS Summer Nationals. The USMS site has the complete meet schedule and will post the latest results.
Remember to tell your friends, family, and teammates that the complete schedule, results, live streaming, and daily online coverage will be available on: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and usms.org.

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU ARRIVE
|
 
When you walk across the footbridge from the garage, you may either walk along the back of the building and turn left to the athlete entrance and registration area or walk through the small parking lot to the side entrance of the building. Upon entering the side entrance, take the stairs or elevator to level 1 and proceed to the information desk. We will be happy to assist you further there.
Registration will be in the west gym on level 0 of the Eppley Recreation Center. We will have it split into sections by last name. Please make sure registration is your first stop at the meet.
Registration is the nerve center of the meet. When you sign your waiver and check in at registration, you'll receive your goody bag and meet program along with a registration packet that will include your credential and any items you purchased (shuttle pass, gold medal sponsorship, social information). Use the computers located in the gym to check in for all deck seeded events. You can pick up and turn in relay entry forms in this area. Awards can be picked up as the meet progresses in the awards classroom off the pool deck.
After you've completed the registration process, please go to the vendor village and visit the USMS sponsors and other vendors. This is THE place for stocking up on all things aquatic and supporting those companies and organizations that sponsor U.S. Masters Swimming. The vendors at this year's meet include: Agon, All American Swim Supply, Aqua Sphere, blueseventy, FINIS, Garmin, Malibu C, Nationwide Insurance, Nike, P2Life, TRISWIM, Speedo, and TYR. |
The competition pool will be open for warm-up on Tuesday, Aug. 12, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. On competition days, the competition pool will be open from 6 a.m. until 7:50 a.m. and the warm-up pools will be available from 6 a.m. until the conclusion of the final event. The competition pool will also be open for warm-up for 30 minutes following the last heat of the 400 IM on Friday, Aug. 15. The competition pool will be open for at least 30 minutes following the last event each day. On Wednesday, Aug. 13, the competition pool will remain open for 1 hour following the last heat of the 1500 free, or 30 minutes if the last heat ends after 6 p.m.
There will be at least 1 lane of warm-up space dedicated to Masters swimmers at the Outdoor Aquatic Center between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. daily. We will increase the lane space at the Outdoor pool as needed. There will also be pool space available on Wednesday afternoon/ evening for warm-up for swimmers travelling from out of town but not entered in the 1500 freestyle.
Warm-up Procedures
Swimmers must enter the pool feet first in a cautious and controlled manner. No diving or backstroke starts will be allowed, except in designated sprint lanes. Pull buoys, kickboards, fins, snorkels, and hand paddles are not allowed in the competition or warm-up pools.
Sprint Lanes
During the warm-up periods in the competition pool, one-way sprint lanes will be made available under lane marshal supervision. These lanes are the only lanes where diving is allowed and swimmers will only go in one direction. The sprint lanes will be designated with signs.
On-Deck Coaching The USMS Coaches Committee will be providing on-deck coaching during all warm-up sessions on competition days. These coaches will be available to start you, time you, and give feedback if requested. Look for them in their "viz green," (visible from outer space), shirts standing by the sprint lanes. |
 All swimmers, coaches and officials are encouraged to attend or be represented at the general meeting in the natatorium seating area at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12. There will be discussions of matters related to the meet by the meet hosts and key officials. In addition, there will be an opportunity for Q&A for all attendees. |
Coaches' hospitality will be located in pool storage off the pool deck. You may access the area from the pool deck or athlete entrance. Breakfast, lunch, and between-meal snacks and refreshments will be served during competition days. Eligible coaches (see below) will be issued passes daily to access this area.
Coaches of a participating club may be eligible for a hospitality pass based on the number of participants their club has in the meet. In order for coaches to be eligible for hospitality at Nationals, they must be members in good standing of USMS and should be prepared to provide proof of USMS membership at the meet.
Hospitality passes are nontransferable and will be distributed as follows:

Clubs with 10 to 29 swimmers entered receive one pass

Clubs with 30 to 49 swimmers entered receive up to two passes
-
Clubs with 50+ swimmers entered will receive up to three passes
- All on-deck coaches receive a hospitality pass only on the days they are assigned and work.

Massage therapists will be available for swimmers throughout the event. Massage will be located on the pool deck, on the northern (window) side of the instructional (warm-up/warm-down pool). Professional therapists will be working continuously throughout the meet to make sure you perform your best. Sign-ups will be available at registration or in the massage area. Cost will be $1.50 per minute.

 Throughout the meet you may exit the pool either from your lane or via a ladder on either side of the course. - Seeding for all of the deck-seeded events, including relays, will be posted near the locker rooms, at each end of the Natatorium, and by concessions in spectator seating. All event results will be posted on the classroom windows by the war- up/cool down pool.
- Swimmers wishing to have times entered into SWIMS (USA Swimming times database) must complete a form at the meet prior to the swim. Contact the administrative referee at the meet.
