Welcome to UPDATE #2 for the 2014 Marriott USMS Summer National Championship in College Park, Md. As the event approaches we want to let you know how excited the University of Maryland and Campus Recreation Services are to welcome you to this great event. WHERE TO FIND INFORMATION
|
The USMS website is the location for all official information regarding the 2014 Marriott USMS Summer Nationals. The USMS site has the complete meet schedule and will post the latest results.
Remember to tell your friends, family, and teammates that the complete schedule, results, live streaming, and daily online coverage will be available on: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and usms.org.

The psych sheet and meet roster and other information are all available on the Summer Nationals page now.
As a reminder, all events 200 meters and longer will require positive check-in. Heat sheets for the 50s and 100s as well as the estimated timeline are expected to be posted on the Summer Nationals page of the USMS website on or about July 31. Check-in details for the deck-seeded events will be included in the next email update and in the meet program (deadlines are posted on the meet page now).
The 400 freestyle and all events 200 meters and shorter will be seeded by age group, with men and women seeded separately. The 400 IM will be deck-seeded by time (again, with men and women seeded separately). The 800 and 1500 freestyle events will be deck-seeded by time (with men and women combined).
If you are absolutely certain you will not be swimming in the meet, or know that you will not be swimming certain 50s and/or 100s, please let us know, and you will be removed from those events to cut down on empty lanes and provide for more competitive heats. Also, please note that once we take you out of an event, we cannot put you back in. For deck-seeded events, as long as you don't check-in, you won't be seeded.

 Throughout the meet you will be asked to exit the pool from either side of the competition course. You may exit the pool using a ladder on the sides. - The facility staff will hang your club banner in the facility for you. Please give your banner to the lifeguards and indicate where you'd like it to be hung. We do not allow the use of duct tape in our facility.

ON-DECK COACHES NEEDED AT NATIONALS
|
If you're a coach and can contribute a little time to help all the swimmers during warm-ups, the Coaches Committee would love to hear from you. There's more information about what the on-deck coaches do and a sign-up sheet online. You'll receive a free T-shirt and hospitality passes for the days that you volunteer.

There will be bleachers located on the pool deck for seating as well as access to the spectator seating area for teams. All seating is on a first come, first served basis. Swimmers are permitted to bring chairs with them onto the deck for additional seating but are restricted from blocking the fire exit doors.
We ask that you remove all personal belongings at the end of each day as the entire pool deck and spectator area are cleaned nightly. Any items left on the pool deck or in the spectator area overnight will be moved to lost and found.

DO YOU NEED A HOTEL ROOM?
|
The Greenbelt Marriott is still offering rooms at the special Nationals rate of $129 per night. The Greenbelt Marriott is 4 miles from the pool and is on the shuttle route. Parking will be located at the Terrapin Trail Garage located behind the Eppley Recreation Center Natatorium (just a short walk over the footbridge). Parking is available day of for $12/day or in advance for $10/day. Please make sure to select the appropriate dates for the event. Credit cards only for parking. Please pay close attention to parking signs on campus and only park where directed, otherwise, your car will be ticketed and towed.
Handicap parking is available in front of the Eppley Recreation Center and is free as long as you have a valid handicap placard.
The meet shuttle service is available at six of the hotels on the list. If you didn't preorder a shuttle pass, they will be available for $30 at the Solutions Table in the registration area. Your first trip from the hotel to the pool will not require a shuttle pass, but the return trip will.

FREE SKIN HEALTH INFORMATION AND SKIN EXAM
|
The USMS Sports Medicine and Science Committee is sponsoring a skin health exhibit, which will be located near the vendor area. On Saturday, Aug. 16, complimentary skin screenings will be provided by a dermatologist from the Maryland Dermatological Society. The schedule for skin screenings by the dermatologist will be announced and posted at the meet.

 You can still purchase meet merchandise when you arrive at the meet. Visit the "Team Store" booth in the vendor village--they'll have a number of event souvenirs, including long- and short-sleeve T-shirts, hooded sweatshirts, form-fitting T-shirts in various colors, and more!
