Greetings!
This issue is packed with good stuff, but two very important announcements about USMS insurance get top billing. Please read them and pass the info along to your teammates. USMS member or coach MUST be on deck
A new workout insurance requirement has been put into effect by our insurance carrier. Effective immediately, for a workout to be covered by USMS insurance, the person supervising the workout must be a USMS member. In the past, a USA Swimming certified coach was allowed to supervise the workouts, even if the USA Swimming certified coach was not a USMS member. This is no longer true; now if the person supervising the workout is a USA Swimming certified coach, he or she must also be a USMS member.

Warm Up? Or Not?
by Coach Lisa Wolf No two swim workouts are exactly the same, but any workout should include a warm-up period at the start of practice. As a younger swimmer, you could jump in, race a buddy down the pool, and be ready to go in a few short minutes. As we age, it takes longer and longer for our bodies to acclimate to the pool, ease kinks and aches, and mentally prepare for a workout. Read more...

Use Your Head
by the Professionals at The Swim Team Store Special Advertorial
The age-old adage "Use your head" has probably been drilled into us by our coaches throughout our swimming careers. Following the black line on the bottom of the pool for years at a time probably calls into question what's between our ears in the first place, but we're swimmers, and we live for finding ways to get from one end of the pool to the other as quickly as we can. Here's one of the most efficient ways you can do that, and really use your head in the process: a dome cap. Read more...
