Dear HOPE friends and supporters

Welcome to HOPE's summer news round up! With regular news from Siem Reap we are delighted with the progress made from the projects your money supports.

Read on below to catch the news on individual projects and HOPE's 2015 fundraising challenge. Where we're looking for more support whether through paddling or fundraising!

As ever, thank you for your on-going support it is hugely appreciated.
News from Sangkheum Center for Children (SCC)

Positive news as ever coming from SCC as they make further steps to support underprivileged children using alternative care options rather than institutional care.

The Young Adult programme is a huge part of this vision as young adults are prepared for life beyond residential care and supported to manage independence in a monitored environment.

News from Salariin Kampuchea (SK)

For those of you who follow our blogspot regularly you'll know the great work the team at SK achieve with their Life Skills programme and over the past few years supporting SK we have been impressed with the comprehensive extra-curriculum education programme they have developed.

Even more impressively they are not ones to rest on their laurels and be complacent.  Instead they are in the process of re-invigorating themselves in an efficient and sustainable manner.

Forward planning to 2016 they are looking to merge all their current projects under two major headings:
1) Primary Education Support Project (PESP)
2) Young People Empowerment Project (YPEP)

The current Life Skills programme will be transformed with the overall goal 'To improve the life prospects of young people in the target region.'

These improvements cannot be made without a significant budget supporting up the work. SK are looking for a total funding of $28,500 per annum starting January 2016. Can you help us, help them?

News from Grace House

Back in November we signed an agreement with Grace House to support their Community Youth Leadership Development Programme, which we are proud to announce is going from strength to strength, building momentum and gaining more members along the way.

For more information on this programme CLICK HERE.

It's nearly time to renew their memorandum of understanding but we need your help to secure more funds to make this happen. By texting BEWL70 £5 to 70070 will go a long way to making this happen.
News from Life Behind Bars - This Life Cambodia (TLC)

In conjunction with This Life's Life Behind Bars programme, which HOPE have supported for the past 5 years, TLC have been working with Human Rights charity LICADHO on the ground breaking Mothers Behind Bars report.

For more news on the report and TLC's involvement please click here.
Hope It Floats II!

Our 2015 Fun(d)raiser is soon upon us and we're all looking forward to Dragon boating again down at Bewl Water, (10 miles from Tonbridge Wells) on Saturday 12th September. As last year the wonderful team at Mekong Experiences have sponsored HOPE's boat, with Thomas heading up the crew!

To join the team you need to be over 14 years of age, be able to swim and paddle in time with a drum! Click here for more info on the day!

This year, we are hoping for good weather, more team members and it goes without saying we hope our boat floats!!

If you are free on Saturday 12th of September, up for challenge and can easily get to Kent then we would love to hear from you! We're still looking for paddlers and their supporters!

In addition (and no fun(d)raiser would be complete without a plea for some much needed funds) we would love you to help sponsor and encourage the team. Last year we raised a superb £2,637.51 which we hope to beat this year. Our Just Giving Page is live so please get donating!

We would also like to repeat the success of last year, the camaraderie was exemplary and the fundraising was amazing but this year we're hoping to win!

Not only does the day seek to raise funds, raise awareness whilst having fun, being in the boat draws on the same of the core skills we seek to develop in the Cambodian young adults we support - team work, communication, determination and healthy competition.

Please do contact us if you fancy a day on the water! trustees@hopeforcambodia.org.uk
