MASSAGE THERAPY

Massage is the application of manipulative techniques to the soft tissues of the body, and may be helpful for conditions such as muscular pain and stiffness, joint immobility, headaches, and extremity numbness.

We are pleased to announce that Jessica Velazquez, CMT/LMT, of JV Massage Therapy, is now offering massage therapy services in our facility!

Services are available 7 days a week, by appointment only; please call 757-512-8334 to schedule yours. Prices vary; YMCA members receive a $10 discount.

Visit www.jv.massagetherapy.com, pick up a brochure at the Welcome Center, or call 757-512-8334 for details.

BRIGHT BEGINNINGS

The YMCA strongly believes that children who have necessary clothing and supplies when they start school are more able to focus on learning.

Through Bright Beginnings, the Y provides children with everything they need to begin the school year with confidence and end it with success! Thanks to volunteers and community members, we are able to fund a day of shopping to provide school clothes and supplies for children whose families are otherwise unable to afford them.

You can help by donating or volunteering to shop with a child this August. Stop by the Welcome Center for more details, or contact Megan Leach, Social Responsibility Coordinator, at megan.leach@peninsulaymca.org

DO SOMETHING GOOD!

Volunteering is essential to the Y and encourages people to be healthy, confident, and connected to others. The role of volunteers distinguishes the Y as a place where everyone can take an active role in bringing about meaningful, enduring change in the community.

The R.F. Wilkinson Family YMCA is currently seeking volunteers to help in areas such as coaching, gardening, decorating, cleaning, greeting members, and many others.

It's a great way to get involved with your community!

For more information, please contact Megan Leach, Social Responsibility Coordinator, at 757-229-9622, or megan.leach@peninsulaymca.org.

YMCA PRESCHOOL

Registration is now open for our preschool located at Colonial Williamsburg.

Early childhood should be a time of fun, warmth, security, exploring and discovery. Planned within this framework, our curriculum includes sharing and conversation, stories, songs and finger plays, creative art and crafts activities, large muscle activities, cooking projects and exposure to shapes, numbers, colors and letters. Teachers use learning centers in play-based curriculum to offer challenging activities in all developmental areas.
