Who ARE those people?

Before we could share our photos on Facebook, we had to make prints to send them to friends. In the best of all possible worlds, we even wrote the year, location, names or event on the back of the picture.

from 1992 student production of Godspell If you're like me, you have a stash of unmarked photos taking up space in a closet or cabinet. Sorting and diligently identifying them is one of my "when I have time" projects -- while I still remember who is in those pictures.

It works the same way at LSTC. We have a huge stash of photos in the archives. Whoever took them was going to get around to identifying them when things slowed down. Now it's decades later. We can identify some of them, but there are a lot we don't know. We need your help to fill in  the missing information for these pictures.

We're posting some of the "mystery photos" on our SmugMug account www.lstc.smugmug.com in a gallery called "History and Captions Needed."

Maybe you know who was at the LSTC prom in 1983 or who is in that picture of the Gospel Choir. Who are the people holding flags from other countries and what was the event?

Faculty-staff-97-2000 A lot of the photos are from the early 1980s through the mid-1990s. If you were at LSTC then as a student, staff, or faculty member, please take a look and see if you can identify anyone.

Future generations will thank you! Besides, it's just fun to look at those old pictures and say, "Wow! Look how young we were!"

Enjoy - and thanks for your help -

Two Stewardship Conferences at LSTC in April

Between Economy and Ecology

April 6, 9 a.m. - 3:15 p.m.

This free stewardship event is for seminarians, pastors, and leaders in ELCA congregations. You'll learn about solar power at Luther College from James Martin-Schramm and how to launch a small-scale solar energy project at your home or church. The free lunch will be made from locally grown and organic ingredients. Afternoon workshops focus on energy efficiency and green practices. LSTC's Green Zone, the Tithing and Stewardship Foundation and Stewards of Abundance are sponsoring this event. RSVP to greenzone@lstc.edu.

Faithful Living & Joyful Giving

April 27, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

What the Bible teaches about stewardship is surprisingly good news. Bible scholar Mark Allan Powell shares his journey from being a notoriously bad steward to discovering the biblical pathway "from duty to delight." This workshop will help you identify tools and insights to continue the stewardship journey, lead members to see biblical stewardship differently, understand that stewardship is about enjoying a closer relationship with God. It is not just about fundraising - it is a way of life. Registration is $30 before April 15, then $35 at http://www.mcselca.org/what/stewardship/conference.php. Fee includes lunch and a copy of Powell's book, Giving to God. Sponsored by the Metropolitan Chicago Synod and LSTC's Tithing and Stewardship Foundation.

"I don't know what I'd do without the Annual Fund!"

To tell you the truth, nobody ever says that - but we should!

Every single student benefits from the LSTC Annual Fund - the ones who get scholarships and the ones who don't.

Every faculty member benefits from the Annual Fund - the ones who occupy endowed chairs and the ones who don't.

And every staff member, resident, and square inch of the building benefits from the Annual Fund.

Do you want to make a real difference and do a whole lot of good with your gift to LSTC? You don't need to choose between giving to a scholarship or a special fund. Giving to the Annual Fund does it all.

And the best part right now? Your gift can be doubled thanks to a matching gift.

What are you waiting for? You can give right now: right here.
