News from The Brook
January 28, 2015

If you're new to The Brook or just still trying to figure out how to connect into our church family, please make plans to join us for our Connection Lunch after the 10:45 service on Sunday, February 1, and our Connection Class during the 10:45
service on Sunday, February 8.

Our Connection Lunch will be an opportunity to meet many of our Staff members and Elders, and have a great time of food and fellowship with one of our Missional Communities. No obligations. Just bring yourself, your family, and your appetite. We would love to get to know you and spend some time together!

Our Connection Class is an opportunity for you to see a much clearer picture of what spiritual growth looks like here at The Brook. During this class, you will hear more about:
  • Our Mission: LIVING INTENTIONALLY TO BRING GOD'S KINGDOM EVERYWHERE WE GO!
  • Our Strategy: Worship. Grow. Serve. Together!
  • Connecting into a Missional Community & finding an opportunity to serve withinthe church.
  • How the ministries of The Brook all work together to equip Christ-followers to carry out our Mission.

Please help us to plan for both of these events by signing up to attend:

Parents: This Is for You!
We will be hosting our next Parent Forum TONIGHT @ 6:30PM in The Refinery (Children's & Youth Building). Our topic is Biblical Parenting: Addressing the Heart Before the Behavior. The default solution in our culture is to simply modify our child's behavior. God has called us to lead them to an understanding of WHY they do WHAT they do and to confront, affirm, address and disciple them through the scriptures. Practicing these principles can radically change your family!

There are times and seasons when we all feel ill-equipped to parent and we feel like raising the white flag. Don't lose heart! You are not in this alone. Come and connect with other parents - who've been there before or who are possibly walking through the same season as you and your family are now. Our time will not only be filled with encouragement and direction from God's Word, but open dialogue and Q&A as well. Families of children and youth of all ages are welcome. Hope to see you there!
Volunteer Appreciation Night
If you are a volunteer at The Brook, you and your family (7th grade and up) are invited to attend Volunteer Appreciation Night on Friday, February 6 at 6PM. It's going to be a fun evening filled with great food, and some pretty hilarious entertainment. So if you have not yet RSVP'd, please take a moment to do so. We need for you to RSVP no later than February 1, in order to plan for food, seating, and childcare.
Marriage Seminar at The Brook
On Friday, February 13, from 12:30 - 4:30 PM, The Brook is hosting a marriage seminar sponsored by Eagle Consulting (The Enrichment Center) entitled "The Art of Falling in Love." Internationally-known inspirational speaker and best-selling author, Joe Beam, will be leading the seminar. He will talk about the four steps to falling in love, staying in love, and renewing lost love. The seminar is for those who are "single and wanting to know more about creating and sustaining healthy relationships, and for married couples wanting to keep that spark, renew that spark, or better understand the ups and downs of marriage." For people who attend The Brook, the cost is $40 per couple ($20 for individuals). All proceeds will go to Wild Hearts in Action. To register, call Eagle Consulting at 256-716-0811 or 256-341-0811, or contact them at www.counselingtec.com/contact-us/. Be sure to mention that you attend The Brook.

You can give by placing your tithes and offerings in one of the Offering Boxes in the back of the Worship Center. You can also give online through our website. However the Lord leads you to give, do it cheerfully, generously, and with a grateful heart!
