A birthday, Tea Time Tour for 14 year old, Seneca Maddocks Wilbur.
A Birthday Celebration at Woodlawn in July

When Rebecca Maddocks Wilbur asked her daughter, Seneca what she would like to do to celebrate her 14th birthday, she was a bit surprised by her response, "Visit Woodlawn and tour the Black House."  And, when they learned that Seneca's birthday actually fell on a Tea Time Tour day, it put the icing on the cake.  Seneca had visited the property a number of times, sledding, walking the trails and on a school trip and wanted to learn more as she enjoys visiting landmarks in the area and has a fondness for history.  Happy Birthday, Seneca and thank you for sharing your day with us!

From the Woodlawn Collection

With the weather being unusually hot and humid over the past several weeks, it seemed appropriate to showcase some of the fans in the Woodlawn collection.  These four fans are displayed in the parlor.  Although this method of cooling is not as effective as today's air conditioning and motorized fans, we are sure that the Black family members welcomed them on hot summer days.
