Create Now is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1996. Our mission is to transform the lives of youth in need through arts mentoring and opportunities.

We provide high-quality programs in music, dance, art, writing, video, theatre, and cultural excursions to vulnerable children who have been abused, neglected, abandoned, orphaned, left homeless, runaways, throwaways, teen parents, victims of domestic violence, children of prisoners, substance abusers, gang members or incarcerated.

In the past 18 years, we have served more than 33,000 of these troubled youth through our creative arts mentoring programs and opportunities.

Save the Date!

Create Now has received more than 5,000 books for children and teens that were donated by ABC-TV, Disney, Marvel and First Books. These high-quality books will be distributed to hundreds of children in our neighborhood, as well as to groups of troubled kids from shelters, group homes and other agencies in our network.

Our partner to distribute these books is Hope Street Family Center, which is a community outreach benefit program of California Hospital Medical Center that provides in-home and on-site educational, health wellness, behavioral health, developmental, and social services that support children and families. They are located directly across the street from our office on Hope Street and Venice Blvd. Adjacent to both of our offices is a pocket-park that will be the site for our BOOK FAIR on Saturday, April 5th between 1:00 and 4:00 pm.

Hundreds of disadvantaged children and youth from our neighborhood in the South Park district (Downtown near STAPLES and the Convention Center) will all receive several books. They will have the chance to earn even more books when they join in our fun Arts and Crafts Workshops. To encourage literacy, the kids will decorate bookmarks and also make tambourines. Our mentor Justine Cogan will teach two Creative Writing workshops. There will also be face-painters and a Children's Talent Show with prizes for all the participants.

If you have in-kind donations to share, or if you'd like to become a sponsor, and/or you want to volunteer to help us with this special event, please send an email to: [email protected].

FoxGives Volunteers

We are delighted that 35 volunteers from Twentieth Century Fox Studios, who are part of a group called FoxGives, will be contributing their time this Saturday, March 1st to help around 35 emotionally-disturbed teenagers to create artwork at Vista Del Mar in Culver City.

These youth have severe emotional and behavioral disorders, many due to abuse and neglect. They will join FoxGives volunteers in one-on-one mentoring opportunities to participate in our Silk Screening workshop with volunteer Cynthia Navarro to print personal "zines." Those who choose to can also design Vision Boards to share their goals and dreams. Depending on the weather, we will also provide our Create A Mural Now workshop.

Create Now will, as always, provide gift bags with lasting souvenirs for each participant in the program, along with refreshments to celebrate the completion of our workshop.
