New Hours
Beginning this coming Monday, August 1 the Rookery will resume our traditional summer schedule of serving dinner 7 nights per week through early October. And yes, in case you're wondering, Monday indeed will be a designated WINEAUX WEEKDAY, joining Tuesday and Wednesday in featuring half price bottles of wine!
New Head Chef
Among the reasons we're able to reopen on Mondays is that our long search for a permanent head chef has finally paid off. And paid off big! When he joins our team next week Chef Darren will be the most well-qualified and experienced chef the Rookery has ever employed, with particular skills in the style of cuisine we've come to be known for. Learn more about him in next week's edition of this newsletter.
New Music
Richard Anderson has been playing music in and around the Cable area for almost as long as I can remember. My cousin Jani Brakken once placed with him in the Lakewoods house band many moons ago. He makes his very first appearance on the Rookery outdoor stage this evening (Friday) from 5-8 PM.
Perhaps you've heard of Anderson Island on Lake Namekagon? That's how far Rich's roots go back in our area. He now splits his time between Cable in the summers and Florida in the winters. It's down in Key West where he says he first caught a whiff of the Caribbean and knew he had to add a dash of that delectable flavor to his Country and Rock 'n' Roll musical repertoire.
Then on Sunday afternoon (2-5 PM) w e welcome back a wonderful musician from Eau Claire who was just here as a member of last weekend's featured band, Eggplant Heroes. This time Dan Zerr is joined by partner Marjorie Craemer in the acoustic string and vocal duo, Secondhand Hearts. Dan and Marjorie are regular performers on the vibrant Chippewa Valley music scene a few hours to our south. But guess what? The only place this summer near Cable you're gonna have a chance to catch their sweet harmonies is right here at the Rookery!

On Fridays we serve from our regular dinner menu no matter whether you choose to dine outdoors during the music, or listen for awhile before moving indoors to eat. For outdoor dining we accept (and strongly recommend) reservations from 4:30 until 6 PM, although you're welcome to be seated anytime prior to your reservation to enjoy the music while you wait your turn to order. After 6 PM all outdoor dining is first come first served, or you can call in advance for reservations to dine indoors.
On Sundays we feature a special patio grill menu. The grill fires up at 1:30 and the music begins at 2. All seating and dining is first come first served so we recommend you arrive early to secure your spot!
