First Timers Plus A Returning Favorite

Our new experiment in Friday evening (5-8 PM) outdoor music continues this week with a bluegrass and country folk group out of Duluth that we've been trying to get on the Rookery stage for at least three years now.

The Fish Heads are well known at the head of the Big Lake for their unique take on bluegrass, incorporating old rock standards from the Bee Gees and Aerosmith, to Steve Miller and Michael Jackson, and folk music from Dylan to Fred Eaglesmith and Richard Thompson. They've been influenced by bluegrass, rock, folk, blues and Texas swing. Not only are they fun to listen to, they also offer up plenty of witty banter onstage.

We really hope you turn out on Friday to give the Fish Heads a warm Rookery welcome. Because three years is a long time to have waited for their debut here. And we know they're the type of group we'd like to have back often. So we'd love to get 'em "hooked" on the joint!

Then on Sunday we welcome back a fellow who's performed numerous times already at the Rookery. Davey J is a 20-year veteran of the creative music scene in Wisconsin and Minnesota. His live shows feature down-home singing and songwriting and a very distinctive sound of acoustic-electric guitar that everyone in the house can feel. His musical repertoire ranges from blues to rock and roll, reggae, and roots music. How many musicians do you know who start their performance with songs from the likes of Roy Orbison and by the end segue all the way to Led Zeppelin?

On Fridays we serve from our regular dinner menu no matter whether you choose to dine outdoors during the music, or listen for awhile before moving indoors to eat. For outdoor dining we accept (and strongly recommend) reservations from 4:30 until 6 PM, although you're welcome to be seated anytime prior to your reservation to enjoy the music while you wait your turn to order. After 6 PM all outdoor dining is first come first served, or you can call in advance for reservations to dine indoors.

On Sundays we feature a special patio grill menu. The grill fires up at 1:30 and the music begins at 2. All seating and dining is first come first served so we recommend you arrive early to secure your spot!
