Dinner Lecture at the Rookery
Talking About Yew!
Thursday, March 31

Northland College professor Sarah Johnson will share stories from her research on Canada yew in the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. She'll chat about the natural history of this rare and charismatic shrub, the unique quality of Great Lakes islands where it is often found, and she'll discuss yew's uncertain future in our Great Lakes region. This lecture is part of the National Park Service's 'Centennial Lecture Series.'

The program begins at 5:30 PM, with optional dinner and conversation after the presentation. Register in advance by calling the Cable Natural History Museum (715-798-3890). $5 member/$10 non-member.

This will be the final dinner lecture of our 2015-16 winter season. These fun and educational offerings by the Cable Natural History Museum have been very well received by all who've participated. If you haven't caught one yet you really owe it to yourself to do so. Stay tuned for next year's series beginning in October!

Announcing Our Summer Music Lineup

It may be just the end of March. But here at the Rookery we're already looking ahead to summer. And especially to the return of live music on our outdoor stage!

The Sunday afternoon fun begins again on June 19 and continues this year all the way thru October 2. And for the first time we'll also be featuring outdoor music on Friday evenings this summer, 5-8 PM from July 8 thru September 2.

We have a great lineup this year...probably our best ever...25 days of music featuring 17 different performers. Including a half dozen new to our outdoor stage, along with several who've performed here each of the past five years.

If you're looking forward to the return of live outdoor music at the Rookery as much as we are you can plan ahead by checking out the Live Music Calendar now posted on our website.

And speaking of the website, apparently even a small remote business like ours can be a hacker target. Both the lodge and restaurant websites have gone down several times over the past few months and our hosting company suspects malicious activity. We've managed to (mostly) get them working again for now. But we don't always realize when they're not. So if you happen to notice something amiss please let us know right away.

Looking for Summer Servers

If you happen to know anyone...student, recent graduate or retiree, teacher with the summer off, whomever...that might be interested in a fun and lucrative summer employment gig (full or part-time), please refer them to us. The only prerequisite? You're confident enough in their skills and positive disposition that you wouldn't mind them serving YOU!

Constant Contact just named the Rookery one of their 2015 small business All Stars! Only 10% of all Constant Contact customers receive this recognition. Thanks for contributing to that honor by enjoying the Rookery's email newsletter!
