Valentine's Weekend at the Rookery
If you've been thinking about taking your sweetie to the Rookery for our fabulous five course Valentine's dinner it's time to pick up the phone. Just a few openings remain on Valentine's evening, Sunday, February 14 (before 5:15 or after 7:45).
You also can reserve our special dinner for Saturday instead, but that evening is filling quickly as well. So call today to avoid being left out in the cold. And boy, is it ever nippy out there right now!
The Rookery's Five Course Valentine's Dinner
Sunday, February 14

1st Course
smoked blue cheese and arugula salad with poached pear
and toasted walnut honey vinaigrette
2nd Course
oysters poached in Pernod with spinach and bacon in torched garlic aïoli
3rd Course
Georgia white shrimp served with peppadew pepper cocktail sauce
4th Course
pink peppercorn crusted ahi tuna a la plancha with tropical fruit relish
over forbidden rice and passion fruit beurre monté
OR
6 oz beef tenderloin with sweet corn and jumbo lump crab bread pudding, flame kissed sugar beets, and brussels sprouts finished with a cognac cream reduction
OR
crab, scallops, and shrimp over linguini sautéed with zucchini, caramelized onion, mushroom, and spinach in a San Marzano tomato cream sauce
5th Course
Godiva chocolate fondue with cherries, toasted chocolate cake,
strawberry, and marshmallow
All this for $99/couple. Seating is limited and reservations are required.
Please note our regular menu will NOT be available on Valentine's evening (Sunday, February 14). However, we'll be offering your choice of either our regular menu or special Valentine's dinner on Saturday evening (February 13).
Snowshoe Hike to the Rookery
Adult Naturalist Program
Friday, February 12
Join Naturalist Emily Stone for a moderately strenuous adventure to the inspiration behind our name just off the Rookery's property in the national forest. Look for tracks and signs, talk about the local natural communities, and view a great blue heron rookery. Dress for the weather. Meet at 3:30 PM for the snowshoe hike. Return to the Rookery for a warm drink and optional dinner afterwards. Call the Cable Natural History Museum at 715-798-3890 to register by February 11. Snowshoes are available to borrow by calling ahead. $10 member/$15 non-member, includes your first drink.
Special Dining Hours
The Rookery will be open next Wednesday of Birkie week (February 17), ASSUMING sufficient advance reservations. So call now if your party of skiers would be interested in dining with us following your pre-Birkie warmup run.
Remember the Rookery now opens early on Saturdays and Sundays, with a special
early pub burger menu available from 3 to 5 PM thru March 13.
