Dinner Lecture at the Rookery
Under the Surface of the St. Croix River
Thursday, January 21

Many people love the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway, but almost no one sees what's under the surface. Toben Lafrancois, local aquatic ecologist and underwater explorer, will discuss his recent work integrating the arts and sciences to paint an in-depth picture of the St. Croix River. His research on food webs using stable isotopes is helping to mitigate the impacts of invasive carp; and his work with Northwest Passage's "In a New Light" photography program leads kids on a journey of arts and healing.

The program begins at 5:30 PM, with optional dinner and conversation after the presentation. Register in advance by calling the Cable Natural History Museum (715-798-3890). $5 member/$10 non-member.

Valentine's Weekend at the Rookery

Valentine's Day always is one our busiest evenings of the year here at the Rookery. And this year the occasion happens to fall on a Sunday. So we expect to be busier than ever, especially once folks get wind of our all new five course special dinner. With Valentine's Day less than a month away it's not too early to book your reservations for best choice of available seating. Because when we're full, we're full.

If you do miss out on reservations for Sunday, or if it's simply better for your schedule, you also have the option of calling to reserve our special dinner on Saturday evening. But bear in mind it's President's Day Weekend as well, always one of the busiest of our winter season.

So don't delay if you really want to wow your sweetie this year. We're guessing you'll be suitably rewarded. Because the Rookery's special five course dinner is especially designed to fuel the passion the occasion suggests.

Introducing Our New Early Pub Menu

We know. You've been skiing, snowshoeing, or snowmobiling all day. And now you're starving. And just a little bit cold. You need to refuel. But you simply can't wait until dinnertime. And you want something more appealing than frozen pizza.

No worries...it's the Rookery to your rescue! We're trying something new on weekends for the remainder of the winter. An early pub menu on Saturdays and Sundays from 3 to 5 PM. We introduced the new concept last weekend and the initial reviews were quite stellar.
