"It's like déjà vu all over again."
It was just a few weeks ago that I opened this newsletter with that famous quote by the legendary Yogi Berra, New York Yankees Hall of Famer and 10-time World Series champion. If you're a baseball fan you no doubt are aware that Yogi died this week at the age of 90. But even if you're not a fan of baseball...or ANY sport for that matter...you still knew Yogi. Or at least you likely know one or more Yogi-isms, his " creative mangling (of) the English language into quotable quips that strangely made sense, made people laugh, or both," as reported by TODAY News.
"It ain't over 'til it's over." "When you come to a fork in the road, take it." "The future ain't what it used to be."
"If you don't know where you are going, you might wind up someplace else."
Then there's his comment regarding a popular New York restaurant. Which also happens to be my personal aspiration for the Rookery. :) "Nobody goes there any more. It's too crowded."
I invoke Yogi's déjà vu comment once again this week not only to honor his memory, but also because we're featuring halibut for the second consecutive weekend. Plus for the second consecutive week it's shaping up to be yet another gorgeous Sunday afternoon for live outdoor music. Our final music of the season.
And what better way to wrap things up than with Molly and the Danger Band! Closing out our music season for the fourth year in a row. And apparently bringing their special weather karma with them as well for the fourth consecutive year. It's rather amazing, yet true. Every last Sunday in September for the past four years has been truly glorious when Molly and the boys have come to play. You really shouldn't miss it. There will be plenty of cold dreary days in November to watch football on TV!
But if you absolutely must our big screen in the bar will be tuned to the Vikings at noon and da Bears at 3:30 (the Packers don't play until Monday night). And with the temperature in the mid-70s on Sunday you can be sure we'll have the windows wide open so you can still catch the strains of music wafting in from outside.
Given both Moly and the weather it's sure to be rockin' at the Rookery this weekend. So be sure to get here early for best seating and first come first served ordering from our special patio grill menu beginning at 1:30 until 4:30 PM.
Molly and the Danger Band this Sunday. Live. Outdoors. Only at the Rookery!
And for those of you who may be wondering, yes, this week's newsletter indeed is quite tardy. I could outline all the reasons why. But I think I'll simply close with another Yogi-ism instead. "It gets late early out here."
