This Week's Live Outdoor Music

Barefoot Wonder
Thursday, 5-8 PM

Pushing Chain
Sunday, 2-5 PM

If you're someone who loves a good fiddle and guitar duo you're certainly in luck this weekend. Because two of the best from the western Lake Superior region will be appearing right here on the Rookery's outdoor stage. One from Chequamegon Bay. The other from just across the Big Lake on the North Shore.

If you're a regular visitor to Bayfield's Lake Superior Big Top Chautaqua you'll no doubt recognize the name, T. Bruce Bowers...the talented fiddle player for the Blue Canvas Orchestra, the Chautauqua house band. Ric Gillman is an amazing 6 and 12 string guitarist from Madeline Island who has recorded, played, and toured with some of the music industry's best regional and national talents. Together they comprise Barefoot Wonder. Why the name? Let's just say that unless it happens to snow on Thursday you'll likely see them dressed similar to the photo above from their debut performance on the Rookery stage three summers ago.

This will be just the second appearance at the Rookery for Pushing Chainthe North Shore duo of Boyd Blomberg from Grand Marais on guitar and Adam Moe of Duluth on fiddle. Pushing Chain performs roots and Americana music with a set list including original songs, covers of classic artists like Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, and Nina Simone, and some fresh new takes on old folk songs. The duo features tight harmonies and a gonzo approach which keeps performances fresh and exciting.

It's a virtual fiddle and guitar festival this weekend. Barefoot Wonder on Thursday. Pushing Chain on Sunday. Live. Outdoors. Only at the Rookery!

Remember, we now accept (and strongly encourage) reservations for outdoor dining on Thursday evenings. If you don't have dining reservations you're still welcome to enjoy the music with a beverage from our open seating area and we'll offer you a table when and if we can.

Meanwhile all seating on Sunday afternoons will continue to be first come first served and feature our special patio grill menu from 1:30 to 4:30 PM.
