Black Robes and the Medicine Wheel:
Religion & Clash of Cultures in Early Wisconsin History
(Adult Naturalist Program)
David Saetre, campus minister for Northland College, will explore the engagement of European Christians with indigenous Native communities from the early fur trade through the mid-19th century treaties. From the missionary efforts of the Jesuits, to the later engagements of Franciscans and Protestants, that history informs our own efforts to understand and appreciate diverse worldviews and the way communities succeed or fail to learn from one another. Meet at 5:30 PM at the Rookery for the presentation. Stay afterwards for optional dinner and conversation. Register in advance by calling the Cable Natural History Museum at 715-798-3890. $5 member/$10 non-member. |

Time to Book For New Year's Eve The Rookery's signature five course feast has become an annual New Year's Eve tradition for many. If you've joined us in the past we hope to welcome you back this year. If you haven't, this would be a great year to start. Because once again the Rookery will be flying in fresh (meaning still live!) Maine lobster. And once again those tasty crustaceans not only will be a featured component of our surf and turf main course. They'll also serve the leading role in our special housemade lobster bisque, the incredible mouthwatering delight many guests tell us is what brings them back year after year. Plus, for the second consecutive year Madeline Island guitar virtuoso Ric Gillman will be performing at the Rookery this New Year's Eve. Why would you wanna be anywhere else? Call now for preferred seating times! The Rookery's Five Course New Year's Eve Feast 1st Course fresh Maine lobster bisque

They can be used for either dining and drinks or toward the purchase of any of the stunning images in our Kristen Westlake nature photography gallery.
These credit-card-style gift cards can be issued in any amount, and any unused balance from a visit to the Rookery will remain on the card and available for use on a subsequent visit. Includes an attractive card holder with plenty of room for your personal greeting. Stop by the Rookery to pick up a gift card (or several) any evening that we're open. Or call and we'll mail it directly to you or the lucky recipient (715-794-2062). Special Holiday Hours The Rookery will be open EVERY evening from Thursday, December 25 through Monday, January 5 (New Year's Eve by reservation only). Interested in going out for dinner on Christmas Eve? We're still debating whether or not to be open that evening. We will be IF we have sufficient advance reservations. So please call at least a week in advance if you'd be interested in joining us. |
