Molly and the Danger Band

This is it! The 16th and final performance in this season's live outdoor music series at the Rookery happens this weekend. And what a finale we have in store for you.

Truth be told the summer of 2014 wasn't the most ideal for outdoor music. Cooler than normal temperatures and a frequent threat of rain seemed to dampen attendance for many of our Sunday afternoon performances. Yet with just one exception the weather never actually forced us to move the show indoors. Each Sunday the skies seemingly would part on cue from 2-5 PM and hardy music fans were treated to undoubtedly the best performance lineup yet in this, the Rookery's third full season of Summer Sunday Serenades.

And the one Sunday we did move the music indoors? It was our very first of the season, way back on June 15. And the performers that day? None other than Molly and the Danger Band, who for the past several years have book-ended our music series, kicking things off as they did back in June, and coming back at the end of September to wrap things up, as they'll be doing again this coming Sunday.

A few curious things about Molly and the boys being the only group this season to perform indoors. First, in looking back to the edition of this newsletter just prior to last year's season ending performance by the Danger Band it seems I attributed to them a special weather karma. Because every time they've performed at the Rookery the weather pretty much has been ideal. Until this past June, of course. And yet if only we had delayed the start of that particular show by a mere half hour or so. Because true to their karmic Rookery charm, the steady rain abruptly ceased, the sun broke through, and everyone wished they had set up outdoors after all on what turned into one of the first beautiful afternoons of the summer.

And now, three and a half months later, it appears that magical karma has stuck by the Danger Band. Because for this, their third consecutive season-ending performance at the Rookery, it is shaping up to be yet another gorgeous autumn day: mostly clear, with a high around 74 degrees. And not only that, the fall color backdrop around the Rookery stage should be absolutely stunning this weekend.

So just like last year, we're expecting the combination of an awesome band, fantastic weather, and one final outdoor concert of the year to bring music fans out in droves. Meaning you're gonna want to get here early! And if not, be sure to bring along a few chairs. Or else be prepared to stand. Because it's likely to be a packed house and we're bound to run out of seating.

Molly and the Danger Band. This Sunday. Live. Outdoors. Only at the Rookery!

As usual our patio grill fires up at 1:30 and the music begins at 2. All seating is first come first served, so be sure to arrive early to claim yours.
