Take the Lead - Deadlines Approaching!
Take the Lead provides essential funds needed to support Girl Scout programming, while celebrating incredible women leaders in the community who inspire our girls to become the leaders of tomorrow.
As the region's most unique leadership development program for girls, Take the Lead is an entirely girl-led program, with our Girl Scouts 'taking the lead' as Presenters, Emcees, Hosts, Chorus or Color Guard during the event.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Call for Nominations!
A Take the Lead honoree is a woman of exceptional impact. She goes above and beyond, strives for greatness, and achieves amazing goals. She is a confident and courageous leader, she gives back to the community and cares about others. Most importantly, she serves as a role model for Girl Scouts.
Do you know a woman leader who has made a positive impact in your community? If so, nominate her to be honored at Take the Lead 2013!
Deadline is October 8, 2012!
Calling all Girl Leaders!
Girl Scouts are encouraged to participate as an emcee*, presenter*, host, chorus, or color guard. Apply NOW!
(* Emcee and Presenter positions are for Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts; these positions are limited in number and there will be an interview process for these applicants.)
Deadline is October 26, 2012!
For more information on Take the Lead 2013, contact Denise Sullivan at 215.564.2030, ext. 1036.

Product Program
Automated Clearing House (ACH)
All troops that plan to participate in the Fall Product or Cookie Sales need to turn in their ACH paperwork. We are currently in the process of organizing all bank information within our Bank Software. We are also in the process of collecting ACH forms from newly forming troops. Once we have this information assembled, we will compare the bank information we have with active troops in Nut-E. If we discover any active troops that have not completed an ACH form, we will contact the Service Unit Nuts About Reading Manager, (SUNAR.) If Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania does not receive a completed ACH Authorization Form after the Fall Products have been delivered, GSEP will contact the SUNAR to hold the product until the troop has completed an ACH Authorization Form.
Please know that with the Cookie Program, a troop that hasn't completed their ACH paperwork will be locked out of the SNAP system and will not be able to place an order.
Important Upcoming Dates
Nuts About Reading Program Ends: 10/22/2012
Troops MUST have their orders into Nut-E by: 10/22/12
Nuts and Candy Delivered to Volunteers: 11/12-16/2012
ACH Sweep: 12/5/2012

Volunteer System
Important Background Clearance and Volunteer Application Information!
Starting October 5th, the background clearance process for all volunteers will become automated. All adults who would like to volunteer in a position that requires a clearance (adults who work directly with girls, work with Girl Scout funds and attend overnights) will be asked to complete an online volunteer application, which will include a direct link to the background clearance form. Following the completion of the background clearance process, all applicants will be routed to a staff member or Service Unit representative for placement.
Please direct new volunteers and current volunteers who need to renew their clearances to gsep.org, "For Volunteers," then "Become a Volunteer." The application will be located in a link on that page. Instructions for how to obtain your background clearance with this new system will be on our website by October 5th.
The price of the background clearance will be $1.95 per applicant. An additional search and cost may be needed in a county that requires a separate fee to check public records.
Copies of background clearances from other sources will no longer be accepted after October 31st. Any volunteers who wish to resubmit clearances obtained within the past year should send them in before the 31st. Please mail copies of the State Police and Child Abuse clearances to GSEP, PO Box 814, Valley Forge, PA 19482 Attn: Volunteer Management.
The revised clearance and application are both part of a newly automated Volunteer Management System, which will facilitate an efficient volunteer intake process. All incoming adults will be guided through the on-boarding steps and will receive further assistance specific to their role.
Please direct any questions about this new process to volunteer@gsep.org.
