Back by popular Demand: The Holmes PTO is excited to sponsor the YWCA of Darien/Norwalk's Parent Awareness presentation "What Every Girl Wants To Know" with Diane Frankel-Gramelis, MS, CCE - Monday, March 7th from 7:00-8:30pm at Holmes School. Frankel-Gramelis, a Health and Wellness Coach & Adjunct Professor at Southern Connecticut State University, will lead a discussion for mothers & daughters on the physical and emotional changes surrounding puberty. The Board of Finance will hold a Public Hearing regarding the approved school budget this Tuesday, March 8 at 7 p.m. in Town Hall. The budget contains funding for an exciting 1:1 technology initiative, as well as various capital projects that are crucial to safety in our schools. Please attend the meeting to show your support of the school budget!
May 9th (8:00 p.m., Town Hall): RTM approval - public comment available if cuts are proposed.

Come learn about the adaptations, behaviors and habitats of reptiles and amphibians. New Canaan Nature Center naturalists will bring live animals such as turtles, frogs, snakes and toads to the school so that the children can compare and contrast these amazing creatures.
Who: Grades K-5. Kindergarteners MUST attend with parent or caregiver
When: Thursday, March 10th from 1:30- 2:30pm
Children MUST be picked up at the Common Room promptly at 2:30pm
Fee: $15/child or $25/family

DARIEN GIRL SCOUT TOY DRIVE IN MARCH
During the month of March, Darien Girl Scouts will be leading their Annual Toy Drive to stock the Toy Closets at the Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital. T he Toy Closets help insure that pediatric patients come away from their hospitalization with a pleasant memory. In addition, the toys serve as gifts for special occasions such as birthdays and holiday celebrations for hospitalized children. Donation boxes are now out at each of the Darien elementary schools and toys will be accepted until March 31. Toys and games should be NEW and UNWRAPPED please. CALLING ALL SPELLERS!! JOIN THE FUN AND SUPPORT THE DEPOT COMMUNITY SPELLING BEE SPONSORED BY CARNEGIE POLLAK TEST PREP!! We are thrilled to have Dr. Boccanfuso and Marc Power from Middlesex Middle School emcee the event again this year! The Spelling Bee is organized into three member teams. Teams compete in rounds, with the winners of each round participating in the Championship Round. Come and cheer on your favorite team! AMERICAN GIRL TEA PARTY The Darien High School Orchestra will host its fourth annual American Girl Tea Party from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, at the Darien Community Association at 274 Middlesex Rd, Darien. Open to children in Kindergarten through 5th grade, the tea party will include food, crafts and entertainment by Orchestra members. Tickets are $10 per person and may be purchased through the DHS Orchestra. Reservations are required as seating is limited. All proceeds will benefit the Orchestra's performance activities, including the group's upcoming performance tour to Orlando in April 2016. JEDLIE THE CLOWN & ANNUAL COMMUNITY ARTS FESTIVAL - SATURDAY, MARCH 12TH
Starting at noon in the Town Hall Auditorium, the Youth Commission is hosting the community favorite - JEDLIE THE CLOWN! His performance appeals to folks of ALL ages, young and old and in between. The cost is $4.00 per person. Immediately following, the Community Arts Festival will take place in the Town Hall Gymnasium from 1:00 - 3:00pm. The afternoon of hands-on-arts for the kids includes professional face painters, caricaturists, projects, performances, presentations and take-aways. The nominating process for the Middlesex Parent Association 2016-2017 school year has begun. We are always looking for new volunteers to join the MPA Slate, especially parents with new students to MMS. The job descriptions are on the MPA website.
