An enormous thank you to Sally Betz, Ellyn Coyne and Laura Pesce-Gray for another successful Bingo night. More than 400 enthusiastic children (and parents) enjoyed Bingo (called by our very own Mrs. Bleakley and Mr. Harvey) and Danny Magic. See you next year.

We are proud to report that our school collected a grand total of $1,259.20 for UNICEF's Trick-or-Treat program this Halloween. Thank you for your wonderful generosity and concern for children and families who are struggling around the world. UNICEF's Trick-or-Treat program has been serving those in need for over 60 years and we are honored to be a part of that tradition. Thank you again!

Holmes School is very excited to be participating again in the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County Annual Turkey Drive. This Friday, November 20th, we will have the Food Bank Truck in the parking lot at Holmes. Please drop off a frozen turkey or chicken between 8-9:30am and let's reach our goal of feeding 200 families this Thanksgiving!
We have partnered with Palmer's Market, who is graciously offering Holmes families a discount of $16 for a 12-14lb turkey. Please print out the coupon attached or use PLC #8877 when purchasing and Palmer's will deliver your turkey for you on Friday morning.
It couldn't be any easier to give back and make a difference this season. We look forward to coming together as a school community and surpassing our goal of 200 turkeys!
Thanks, Kids Care Club Committee

Donate to the Reiss Fund today!
Just this past summer, two Holmes teachers received Reiss Fund grants to support their learning; Erin Brown attended the Teacher's College Reading Institute and Kelly Soisson participated in a six week course on mindfulness. And a total of 17 teachers throughout the district took classes in sciences, the arts and music, and literacy thanks to your generosity.
For over 50 years, the Reiss Fund has generously awarded scholarships to our teachers allowing them to further their studies over the summer in an area of interest, exploration or enrichment. The learning from these incredible experiences comes back to our children's classrooms, enriching the learning that goes on and elevating the enthusiasm with which it is delivered.
Our ability to offer this extraordinary scholarship program to our Darien Public School teachers sets our district apart in Fairfield County. Our ability to continue to support our teachers through Reiss Fund grants depends on you.
Please make a secure online donation today at reissfund.org, where you can also print out a mail-in a donation form to send in with your check.
Please join us in supporting the Reiss Fund.
Thank you!

Does your child think it is important to care for others? Talk with them about the Golden Rule, "Treat others as you would like to be treated." Children often adopt values like caring by imitating what they see in the world around them. This Thanksgiving, investigate volunteer opportunities where you can serve as a family. Go shopping together to purchase a Thanksgiving meal for a family in need or spend an afternoon sorting last year's winter coats and hats to donate old items to Person to Person or Open Door Shetler. Talk about how your acts of caring make a difference for people in need.
