This program, co-sponsored by DAEG and Darien elementary schools, encourages students to play math games at home with parents, siblings and friends daily for two weeks: October 5-18. These games will focus on developing logical thinking, spatial reasoning, critical problem solving, and even math fact skills! DreamBox and Investigations, beyond homework, can also be applied. Here's how:
At the end of the two-week play period, the class in each grade at your school with the highest total percentage of participation will win a prize! Ready, Set, MATH!

Please join your fellow Holmes parents at the "Holmes Hoedown" on Friday, November 6 at Wee Burn Country Club for a night of great fun, food, drinks and a fabulous silent auction featuring the ever popular "Teacher Treats," fantastic kids' items, sports tickets and travel opportunities. Research shows that students that read three of more hours a week - just 26 minutes a day - exhibit more positive than negative values. Encourage your child to read just for the fun of it. Have your child tell you a story, then type it up and make it into a book to share at bedtime. HOLLY POND SCHOOL'S DARIEN FAMILY FUN DAY IS SUNDAY, OCTOBER 25th
The 19th Annual Darien Family Fun Day, hosted by the Holly Pond School and open to the public, will take place at the Darien YMCA on Sunday, October 25th from 11am to 2pm. Kids are sure to love this festive event that will feature pony rides, arcade games, a magic show, bouncy houses, arts & crafts- including pumpkin decorating and a homemade bake sale. There will be a food truck from Darien's fresh and delicious Meatball and Co. and pizza from Heights Pizza. Tickets are available at the YMCA for $30 per family and include a pony ride; all proceeds will benefit the Holly Pond School. Rain or shine. Mark your calendars for the 50th Anniversary celebration of one Darien's most cherished fall traditions: the Tokeneke School Pumpkin Carnival!
Celebrating 50 years of fall family fun, Darien's Tokeneke School Pumpkin Carnival returns Saturday, October 17th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.( Rain Date: Sunday, October 18th) and promises fun for all ages with Halloween-themed activities, amusement park rides and delicious seasonal treats from local vendors. To honor its half-century birthday, the 2015 Tokeneke Pumpkin Carnival will be a celebration of traditions like old-fashioned fair games and new experiences, including all-new rides and food options. The Tokeneke Pumpkin Carnival provides critical funding for the Enrichment Program at the Tokeneke Elementary School. Admission is FREE! DARIEN NATURE CENTER'S HALLOWEEN HOOT AND HOWL
The Darien Nature Center is gearing up to host its annual Halloween Hoot and Howl on October 25th from
4:00-6:00 p.m. This family fun event will feature hay rides, crafts, a magic show, s'mores, storytelling around a campfire, face painting, a wooded walk, refreshments and live animals. The ticket fee is $5.00 per person. Tickets are available at the door. The Darien NatureCenter is located at 120 Brookside Road, Darien in Cherry Lawn Park. CALLING ALL WITCH-CRAFTY KIDS: Sign up to carve a spooky, spectacular pumpkin for the Darien Land Trust's Pumpkin Blaze, an exhibit of jack o' lanterns on woodland trails at the Darien Nature Center's Hoot 'n Howl event. Community submissions must be local, 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organizations and parent or child-related. We will not include advertisements for businesses. Submissions will run for two weeks.
The deadline for submission is Monday by 4pm; H2H is normally distributed on Wednesdays.
