"Holmes Hawk Talk", the school newspaper for Holmes School, is looking for student journalists who love to find out the answers to these important questions -- and write about them!
Newspaper Club is open to fifth graders and meets approximately two times a month before school. In our meetings we will brainstorm news article ideas, and work together to write about all the news happening at Holmes School, in our town, and beyond. Our group typically produces two to three issues of "Holmes Hawk Talk" per school year.
If your fifth grader is interested in joining the newspaper club and learning more, email Carol Rooney (rooneyfamily@optonline.net).
Also, we need one additional parent volunteer to attend all meetings and assist as needed. Please let us know your interest!

Darien Music For Youth is celebrating over 50 years of bringing the Arts to our Darien school children in grades K-12. Music For Youth provides programming in order to enhance the district music curriculum through live performances, master classes, artist-in-residence programs, interactive assemblies, supplemental materials for teachers and community events. This school year, the district music curriculum focus is "Voices of Freedom: The American Spiritual," chosen to educate our children about the rich beginnings of American Music. This theme, in particular, offers many opportunities that encourage interdisciplinary connections. With your generous support, Music For Youth has been able to provide outstanding programming for our children. A flyer was sent home in each child's backpack the first week of school. If you have not already sent in your suggested donation, please consider doing it today. Additional fliers may be picked up in the office. For more information, please contact Joan Carlo at joan@carlocrew.com.
