GLENS FALLS HOSPITAL TO RECEIVE $5.1 Million

EDC would like to thank Governor Cuomo on his announcement of $5.1 million to be awarded to Glens Falls Hospital for a series of programs including capital restructuring, hospice and crisis care.  The state is investing a total of $1.5 billion to fund 162 projects statewide.

Finch Paper Reports on Wood Yard Modernization Project

At a recent EDC Regular Monthly Meeting of the Board of Directors a $1.8 Million National Grid energy efficiency grant toward Finch Paper's recently completed $10 million wood yard modernization project reduced the return-on-investment time frame from two years to about one year, said Derek Basile, the company's Vice President of Finance.  The investment in the wood yard included  $1 million in state funding.

TD Bank Places Glen Street Property on Market for Sale

TD Bank is offering the former main branch building and offices for sale in downtown Glens Falls. The bank listed the property with the brokerage firm of CBRE Albany for $625,000. The historic building totals 20,600 SF and features main bank branch with a vaulted 30 foot ceiling, private offices, conference room space and utility space plus a basement. EDC President Ed Bartholomew said "the bank property is a signature building and a key property for the downtown area. EDC will work closely to assist a potential purchaser to bring new life to the building ideally adding new jobs".

EDC On the Move - Among some recent activities.


Thank you to all who participated in EDC's Appreciation Day at Gore Mountain on Thursday, March 3rd with a special thank you to EDC Board Secretary Jeff Byrne and his team at Gore for hosting.  There were 33 participants with 24 skiers despite the lack of cooperation from Mother Nature this ski season.  EDC Board Members Chuck Barton and Jim Siplon along with President Ed Bartholomew and Vice President John Wheatley joined the group on a gorgeous, cold and sunny day on the mountain with lots of fun for all!    Approximately 25 attendees enjoyed the delicious buffet luncheon served in the Tannery Pub.

Glens Falls Hospital Offers Free CPR Classes

All members of the GFH Board of Governors recently became CPR-certified after learning of an inspiring local life-saving story.  We are now encouraging people across our region to join us in learning CPR - because any one of us may be in a position to save a life, at any moment.

The "At Any Moment" initiative was spearheaded by hospital board member Gary Hicks, a Granville resident.

The Hyde Announces Exciting New Renovation to Improve Visitor Experience

The Hyde Collection announced that, in mid-March, it will begin an exciting set of renovation projects designed to enhance the visitor experience and display more art from the permanent collection. The Museum will transform its lobby and admissions area, convert its museum shop into the Whitney-Renz Gallery, and improve technology throughout campus.

FUND Invests in Much-Needed Upgrade of Lake George Village Wastewater Treatment Plant

The FUND for Lake George has awarded a grant of $20,000 to the Village of Lake George toward  upgrading its Wastewater Treatment Plant. Funding will pay for survey work to be performed in designing replacement of the existing plant. This latest grant is among the priority investments being made by The FUND to "stop the present decline of water quality and achieve sustained protection of Lake George for the next generation," the driving goal of the organization's Legacy Strategy.

Glens Falls: Warren County's career center and the state Department of Labor are moving in the coming weeks from an office building in Queensbury to the Travelers building in downtown Glens Falls located at 333 Glen Street.

New York Accepting Applications For $500 Million Broadband Program

New York State is seeking applicants for the first phase of its $500 million broadband program meant to bring high speed Internet access across the State.

Governor Andrew Cuomo has been pushing for increased and improved broadband access.  It's need to grow and attract businesses, which require broadband to compete globally.

EDC continues to work with county officials, businesses and residents on this program.
