OH BOY!  HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

One of my favorite times of the year, and this week m
y client work kept me close to home with sessions in Grand Rapids yesterday, and here in East Lansing today.  Now, I have to finish carving pumpkins and prepping the kids' (and my) costumes!

Because of this fun time of the year, I'm going to keep this month's Timely Tips short and sweet, helping you to find files, documents, and e-mails more quickly:

This Month's Timely Tips: Using "Recent" Options to More Quickly File, Save, and Find
This is where you can always find your Timely Tip.

Did you know that most electronic filing tools give you options to quickly find and use recently used files and documents, and save your files into recently used folders?  I am hoping many of you already use these options to more quickly file, save and find your documents, files, photos, and media.  I have found myself using these "Recent" file options and locations much more frequently in recent months -- perhaps because as your file systems naturally mature and become more sophisticated, it takes a bit longer to scroll through your file hierarchies.

Here are a few instances of "Recent" file options that I've found myself using:

Want to run a similar Outlook e-mail search to one you did recently?  Simply click on the search bar in Outlook, and select "Recent Searches"

Want to find a document or file in Windows Explorer more quickly?  Use "Recent Places":

Looking to save a document into a recently used folder and/or open a document from a recently used location?  Use "Recent Places" again within your "Save As" or "Open" pop-up windows:

You can even do this using Google Drive for your Google Docs:

As I mentioned, knowing how to find, use, and save items, documents, and files using your "Recent" options is a great way to find a few extra seconds every time you have to access your computer or cloud storage systems.  Those few seconds add up to hours, days, and even weeks over the course of a work year.  Start using your "Recent" options today!

More News on My New Streaming Programs

As I mentioned last month, I now have two of my programs: 1. Taming the E-mail Beast Using MS Outlook, and 2. Additionally, last week, I laid down the audio tracks for my new 30 day "daily-mini-online-coaching" course with Avanoo on moving "From Distracted to Productive" -- this course should finish with post-production and be available for purchase within 2-3 weeks.

To note:  I am planning on adding my full slate of courses, including Time, Project, People & E-mail Management In "The Cloud" Using Google and also Smart Phone Success & Terrific Tablets before the end of this year.

App of the Month

       Pocket

Pocket -- available both on ITunes and GooglePlay, but to learn more, click here.

Have you ever come across something on the web or on a social site that you really wanted to reference later?  But then later, when you came back to find it, you either couldn't easily locate it again, or took minutes doing a search vaguely remembering the item that sparked your interest?  Wouldn't it be nice if you could just immediately mark those items into an app that will keep them waiting for you in an easy-to-find format when you are ready to look for them?

You can now do this using the Pocket app.  As it says on the Pocket web site, you can "SAVE FOR LATER
...
Put articles, videos or pretty much anything into Pocket.

Save directly from your browser or from 500+ apps like Twitter, Flipboard, Pulse and Zite."

As a time-starved, info-overloaded entrepreneur, I can tell you handy info-retrieval apps like this really make my day.  Give Pocket a try and find your desired info sources, articles, videos, etc. much more quickly today.

Webinar Program on
SMART PHONE SUCCESS & TERRIFIC TABLETS

This has been without a doubt one of my most popular programs on the conference and training circuit the last 2-3 years, rivaling even my ever popular Taming the E-mail Beast program in terms of audience interest and attendance.

Why is it so useful?  Because I show you how to FINALLY use your smart phones and/or tablets to be PRODUCTIVE (not just fun, games, and social anymore.)

See why many professionals are seriously considering ditching the ol' laptop/desktop configuration for the leaner, friendlier smart phone/tablet productivity configuration instead.  We'll discuss Apple & Android smart phones & tablet products, as well as some of the new Windows tools available.

Look for your formal invitation in the next couple of weeks for this powerful program to take your smart phone & tablet usage to a whole new level!!  Welcome to the 21st Century!
