Timely Tips June 2014:

A New Video Tip on Using the Outlook Calendar Function and an Awesome App!

* Plus, I messed up last month with my announcement on the streaming replays of my programs, so I'm going to make it up to you.

June 2014

Hi Everyone!

(Want to get to the point?  Skip to the special "egg on my face" offer for you posted later in this article block.)  Have you ever thought you had something "nailed", only to find out it wasn't nailed at all?  That is what happened to me last month.  I thought I had my streaming replays of two of my most popular programs:    Taming the E-mail Beast Using MS Outlook AND Gmail (100+ minutes of strategies and tips) and Optimizing Your Outlook: Managing Your Time/Calendar, Projects/Tasks, People, Ideas, and Even Your E-mail Using MS Outlook (90+ Minutes) available in a format that allows you to stream these programs at your convenience from wherever you would like.  And so I sent you the link to my BizYeti page to only find out that the programs would not load.  As George Takei would say:  "Oh Myyyyy!"  You can imagine both my frustration and embarrassment.  I'm sure a few of you went to the site, tried to complete a purchase or at least get more info on how to purchase, only to receive a message that "The files are not available at this time."

Rather than make the problems worse, I opted instead to go back into "my workshop" and get these problems fixed.  It was a two-tiered problem -- I had a problem on my side with the video output type, and a problem with BizYeti on getting the final product to load.  Both of these issues are now fixed. You can now purchase these replays for individual streaming on your laptop/workstation through BizYeti.com -- here is my catalog page on BizYeti:  http://randydean.bizyeti.com

You will see that I have even posted a slightly older Taming the E-mail Beast session from when I was still using Outlook 2007, which may be valuable for those of you that are still running Outlook 2007.

IMPORTANT:  I have also learned that in order to view the free content and/or make a purchase on BizYeti, you need to first create a free account with them.  Some of you may have clicked the purchase button last month, only to get bounced to the front page of BizYeti.  If you have any interest at all in reviewing this material, I recommend you first go to the BizYeti sign up page: http://bizyeti.com/signup and create your free account.  Thus, you will not only be able to view/purchase my materials, but also review all of the other content being posted by other subject matter experts on a plethora of personal and professional development topics.

MY SPECIAL "EGG ON MY FACE" 2/1 OFFER (Valid until July 17th):

This has frankly been pretty embarrassing to me -- I hope you'll excuse my long-winded explanation above.  I know I likely wasted several people's time and energy last month.  Because of this, here's my special deal:

Go to the program purchase screens of my catalog page:  http://randydean.bizyeti.com (I recommend you read the "IMPORTANT" paragraph above before trying to make a purchase.)  Notice that I have both an individual purchase option and I am also giving discounted per-person pricing if you want to purchase a license for multiple individuals.  UNTIL JULY 17th, I will DOUBLE the licensing at no additional charge (thus, if you buy an individual license, two people can view it.  If you buy a license for 10, 20 people can view it, etc.) I feel bad that I wasted your time, and I want to make it up to you.  I will never repeat this offer or pricing again, so here's your chance to take advantage of my ineptitude.

If you do purchase a multi-party license for your team/organization, please contact me in person at randy@randalldean.com so we can discuss the logistics of getting this file available in streaming format on each of the people's computers.  (And if you want to discuss even larger groups, also contact me for even more deeply discounted per-person pricing, as well as possibly hosting the replay file on your own company intranet.)

Interested in buying an individual license but you don't have a second person to share with?  Here's what I'll do for you:  if you purchase Taming the E-mail Beast Using Outlook and/or Gmail, I will give you an access code that will allow you to also view the Optimizing Your Outlook program at no additional charge.  (Send me an e-mail for additional details once you complete the first purchase.)

I goofed.  You gain.  It hopefully won't happen again.  So, take advantage of me now for a deal I'm likely to never repeat.  And please accept my sincere apologies.  (And also please let me know if you have any difficulties with the shopping experience using BizYeti -- I truly value your input here.)

PS:  This looks to possibly be the first of several options and programs of mine coming online in the next several months.  I'm fully expecting to be working with 2-3 additional online streaming partners to make my most popular programs "anytime accessible".  Thanks for being patient as I struggle through a fairly deep learning curve opening up this new model in my business.

App of the Month

QuickOffice

QuickOffice -- available both on ITunes app store  and  Google Play

I believe I may have featured QuickOffice previously, but I wanted to bring it up again because of some important changes to this app recently.

The first and most important change:  it is now owned by Google (they bought out the previous private developer of this app and made it part of the Google-branded suite of productivity apps.)

Second: they made it FREE!!!  It used to be one of the more expensive apps in app world, but it is now free to use on both Android and IOS devices.

And, it promises to allow you to create and edit Office-compatible documents and spreadsheets on your devices, that you can use/share pretty much like a full-service MS Office Word or Excel document.  I believe it also offers the option to create PowerPoint compatible files too, but I haven't tested this capability yet (let me know if you do.)

Thus, you can start using your phone and/or tablet to create the kinds of documents you use for true in-office productivity.  And, the latest release also works with both Google Drive and DropBox, so you can easily save to your favorite cloud storage location (I'm not sure about ICloud, so if you try that, let me know how that works too!)

Amazing -- effectively having nearly fully-functional Word and Excel on your devices FOR FREE!  And supported by Google!  Truly awesome!
