Timely Tips April 2014:

Reducing E-mail Distraction by Adjusting Your MS Outlook Settings -- A Video Tip!

*Plus, a new "Save the Date" for my Optimizing Your Outlook webinar -- May 21, 2014

April 2014

Hi Everyone!

Hope you have all appreciated this flip from the harshest winter in generations to the beauty of springtime!  After a week of R&R in Florida earlier this month, it was a crazy month of travel for client events in Iowa, Cleveland, Atlanta, and near Ft. Myers, Florida (and, for good measure, one event in my old hometown of Kalamazoo!)  One of these client programs directly led to this month's Timely Tip:

Reducing E-mail Distraction By Adjusting Your Outlook E-mail Settings

As I mentioned above, at one of my client events, my client specifically asked if I could share how to adjust the Outlook settings so that his team would be less distracted by the constant "bling" of e-mail.  I shared two specific strategies that should help do just that, and I have made them into a little video tip posted on my YouTube channel -- here's the tip!

I Sold Out Last Month's Webinar!!

That was really awesome -- my online banking partner only allows a certain amount of transactions monthly, and I blew through my full account allowance.  This has prompted me to do three things:

1.  I am announcing my next webinar!

Save the date of May 21 at 1:00 p.m. Eastern for my 90-minute webinar on Optimizing Your Outlook: Time, Project, People, Idea, Task, and E-mail Management Strategies For Busy Outlook Users.  I will be sending out a formal invitation to this program next week, but I wanted to get it on your calendar now.  This is the second of my planned series of webinar programs that will be taking place every 1-2 months throughout 2014.  (If you have several people at your firm that may be interested in participating, contact me at randy@randalldean.com for reduced per-person pricing options.)

2.  I am going to be posting a streaming program replay of Taming the Email Beast

This replay of the Taming E-mail webinar program will be in streaming format, and I hope to have it posted and available for individual purchase sometime next week.  (I will give info on how to get access to this program in the same message I'll be sending on the Optimizing Your Outlook webinar, with per-person discounts available for groups larger than 5.)

And, 3. I am likely to host another Taming E-mail webinar over the summer.

This will be a live Taming E-mail webinar like the one for last month, for those that missed the first one and enjoy the live webinar format, allowing real-time Q&A and feedback.  Look for more info on that soon.

(By the way, if you are a leader of a professional group, association, or other member organization, and would like to get one of these webinars in front of your audience/members, contact me and I'll share a way you can do this with no upfront costs, and possibly generate new revenue for your group or association.  Reply to this e-mail for more info.)

********
So, I have plenty to do!  I better get busy, so you can have access to all of these programs.  Look for the additional info on the upcoming webinar and program replay next week.

Until next month, Stay Timely!

Sincerely,

Randy Dean

App of the Month

Dashlane

Dashlane -- available both on ITunes app store and  Google Play

Another attendee shared with me this amazing password manager app at a recent Smart Phone Success program I was leading:  Dashlane.

Dashlane not only tracks all of your log-ins and passwords securely on your devices, it also can immediately log you into those same sites simply by using the app.

And, it will even give you a "security score" for your log ins and passwords, helping to improve your online security.

This one looks to be an immense time saver.  Definitely check it out.  Here is more info from the Dashlane web site:

A Little Article on the Heartbleed Virus
I have been using AVG as my virus protection for a few years now.  They sent this simple message with tips on protection from this virus:

Also, apparently there is a BIG flaw that was discovered in Internet Explorer over the weekend.  If you browse the web using IE, I strongly recommend you switch to Chrome, Firefox, or Safari until Microsoft releases an update.
