Timely Tips August 2013:
E-mail Reminder Service (For Yourself!)

*And a cool app that helps you keep track of family

August 2013
Greetings!

Heading into a big holiday, and we finally have some summer weather to match!  I'm scrambling a bit with a bunch of family and house things to do this holiday weekend (and hoping for some fun too!), so I'll get right into this month's Timely Tip:
A Service that Sends Timed E-mail Reminders (Including to Yourself!)
This is ALWAYS the place to look for your Timely Tip!

Check this out:

http://www.schedulemailer.com

This service allows you to set up timed future reminders sent by e-mail. You can use the service to schedule and plan reminder notices to go out to clients, vendors, customers, and co-workers (and even family and friends), or just send yourself timely reminders when you need them.  (This makes it similar to the delayed-send option in Outlook, but is nice in that you can quickly jump to this service at any time regardless of the e-mail tools you are using.)

It is a no-cost service, and they promise to hold your e-mail information confidentially with no sharing.  That being said, you might still want to use a back-up e-mail address when utilizing this service (that's how I'll use it.)

Test it out and send me your thoughts.  (And NEVER tell my wife about this service.)

I'll be everywhere in September & October

After some much needed R&R early in August, I had the opportunity to lead several local programs as well as visit the state of Louisiana for their big tourism conference for the first time (state #45 out of 50!)  Coming up, I'll be in Pittsburgh and Portland, OR, as well as Mt. Pleasant, Petoskey, and near Traverse City here in Michigan.  Then, when I get into October, all heck breaks loose, with a client session or travel nearly every weekday of the entire month and visiting Chicago, Orlando, Iowa, DC, St. Louis, and Phoenix!  (At least I'll maintain my status with Delta Airlines!!  Plus, we just bought a house a few months ago -- I can use the money!)  ;-)

In September, I'll make some announcements about a few public and open conference programs taking place in October & November.  And I'm considering hosting some open webinar programs before the end of the year, and may make some announcements on those too.  Look for that info soon.

I hope you enjoy the upcoming holiday weekend.  Looks like we get a few more days of HOT here in Michigan before the cooler air comes in just in time for the start of school for the kiddos.  Look for me at the pool reading an old-fashioned paperback wearing shades.  ;-)
And please remember to use the links below to connect "socially".

Until next month, Stay Timely!

Sincerely,

Apps of the Month

Find My Friends

Find My Friends is available on ITunes and Google Play

I'll have some teenagers wandering my house in the not-to-distant future.  One of the first things I'll do when they get their first smart phone is install this app.

It uses the on board GPS/location services to help different friends and family members find each other, even if one of the parties isn't answering their phone.

This could be handy in case of an emergency, especially if those same said teenagers (or your wife) have the music blasting and they don't hear their phone!

It does require all users to install the app and link accounts, but it works across platforms and seems like a great way to stay even more connected in this totally connected world.

Let me know how it works for you.
