Fuel up! by Carol Woodbury
Co-founder, President & CTO, SkyView Partners, Inc.
When I'm training for a race, my longest runs are on Saturday. So today was no different. After my usual latte at Starbucks I put on my running gear, fired up the Nike app on my phone and off I went. Problem was, my mind was willing my body wasn't. My legs felt like lead and I couldn't get my breathing evened out. Why is this happening, I wondered? I even considered giving up and walking back home - something that would have ruined my training schedule. Then it dawned on me - while I had had a latte, I hadn't eaten enough of the right foods to fuel my body for my run. I had neglected to prepare properly. Fortunately, I carry runners' goo so I walked, fueled up and drank some water. By the middle of my run, my body was properly nourished and hydrated. I completed my run feeling good and in a decent time. But that first half was torturous!
Now I'm sure you're asking yourself, what could this possibly have to do with computer security or compliance? In the same way that I didn't plan and neglected to eat properly before my run, I see many people not build up or take in security knowledge before taking on a new aspect of security administration or starting on a compliance project or preparing for an audit.

In this session, security expert Carol Woodbury will explain RBAC, the 5 steps you can take to achieve RBAC, as well as how to use SkyView's Policy Minder product to simplify the setup and daily management of RBAC configuration and policies.
Attaining and Maintaining the Compliance Lifestyle
With the realization that compliance laws and regulations, like PCI DSS, are not going away, compliance needs to become a way of life; that is, part of your organization's "lifestyle." What we've discovered is that, once our customers passed their audit, they kicked back and relaxed until notice of the next audit came around. Unfortunately, when that happens, a lot of things fall out of compliance.
In this session, SkyView Partners' Vice President J. D. Seal will describe how to accomplish "compliance as a lifestyle" by providing tips on knowing what you have to be in compliance with. J. D. will also talk about the steps you can take to avoid falling out of compliance. Finally, J. D. will show how you can use SkyView Partners' products to "Attain and Maintain the Compliance Lifestyle.
