MCCC will welcome the STOPfakes.gov Road Show for a seminar on protecting and enforcing your company's intellectual property when exporting to foreign markets. BDC introduces members to the procurement processes of the area's top organizations. FEDERAL:
  • Overtime Proposed Rule Comment Period Open: The Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division published its proposed rule that amends the regulations under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) governing the "white collar" exemption from overtime pay for executive, administrative and professional employees. The comment period closes on September 4. Find out more about the proposed rule and how you can submit comments here. 
 
STATE:
  • MD Tax Structure: The Augustine Commission continues its work on evaluating the tax structure in Maryland in order to offer tangible recommendations to the General Assembly before January.  The MCCC Board of Directors' Business Environment Council, chaired by Jim Young, is preparing testimony to provide to the commission and to inform the 2016 MCCC Legislative Agenda.

COUNTY:
  • Impact Tax: MCCC submitted testimony opposing Bill 34-15, Taxes - Transportation and School Impact Tax - Amendments. MCCC opposes the changes to impact tax rates near transit areas, among other proposed changes.Read MCCC's testimony here.  
     
  • The Montgomery County Council will return from recess on Septeber 15.
