COUNTY:
- Economic Development Reorganization: On Tuesday, June 30, the Montgomery County Council, at the request of the County Executive, passed Bill 25-15 to reorganize economic development responsibilities into a new non-profit organization. MCCC sent a letter to the County Executive and testified at the public hearing and looks forward to continuing to work with the newly created MCEDC. Read more here.
- Earned Sick and Safe Leave: MCCC together with other business organizations worked to modify the final bill in important ways. Bill 60-14 was signed by County Executive Leggett on July 2. For more information, click here.

- Purple Line: Governor Hogan has announced his approval for the Purple Line to move forward, contingent upon a reduction of the overall scope/cost of the project, and an increase in share of the cost to be supported by Montgomery and Prince George's Counties, and receipt of the expected $900M in Federal funding.

- Federal Government Sets Record Achievement for SDVOSB Contracts: The federal government set a new record of achievement of rewarding contracting dollars to service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses (SDVOSBs). For the third year in a row, the federal government has met its commitment to goal for SDVOSBs. This groundbreaking achievement ensures that veteran-business owners have a fair opportunity to compete in the federal marketplace. Read more here.
