Advocacy

MCCC is a 501 c 6 and advocates on behalf of a strong business community in Montgomery County and Maryland. Below are advocacy highlights at the county, state, and federal levels. For more information about our advocacy work, visit our Advocacy Page.

FEDERAL:
  • Rep. Van Hollen and 28 Federal Agencies at Procurement Conference: Congressman Chris Van Hollen once again is the Honorary Chair for the MCCC GovConNet Procurement Conference on May 15. Attend the conference to meet representatives from the 28 Federal Government Agencies participating this year! Find out more here

  • National Small Business Week - May 4-8: National Small Business Week recognizes the critical contributions of America's entrepreneurs and small business owners. Find out more here.

STATE:
  • MCCC Supports Baltimore Business: Business is vital to a thriving community. MCCC stands united in supporting the strength of Baltimore City and Maryland. For information on helping the people and businesses of Baltimore City,  please visit the Maryland Unites website

  • 2015 General Assembly Legislative Session: To see the recap of the 2015 session, visit MCCC's state advocacy page.

COUNTY:
  • Energy Tax: The proposed FY 16 Operating Budget includes an energy tax at the same level as FY 15 - an almost 100% increase from the taxes levied in 2010. The energy tax was passed in 2010 with a provision to sunset in two years. Five years later, it is still intact and now represents the third highest source of tax generated revenue for the county. MCCC opposed this increase and asks you to voice your opposition too! Find out how you can take action here.

  • Early Bird Benchmarking Program: Montgomery County Government is offering an "Early Bird Recognition" program for building owners who benchmark early. Find out more here.
